not sure really, the pc will charge you controller if you plug it in, and it works when you plug in the wired pad for use on the pc, however you would have to give it a try, but I see no reason why not really.

my wired pad works and it instalss the drivers automaticly, my wireless does not, the same as what you are saying, so I guess if you want to use a 360 pad on the computer you need one with wires

I'm not sure, but I think you have to buy the Windows version of the Xbox 360 controller so you would have the CD to install it.

use the charge and play kit. Plug it in to your pc. There is a driver setup package on microsoft .com that will load all drivers you need. You can then ue the game pad in PC Games.

Damn, really? I know that you can plug the wired controllers in and that there's also an adapter to use 360's wireless stuff on PC.

PS: It doesn't work, I think it will not work with a controller you get with your 360.

The play and charge kit only serves to charge your wireless controller, nothing more.  The only way your existing wireless controller will work with your Windows based PC is to purchase the Microsoft Wireless Gaming Receiver for $19.99.  The receiver will work with any wireless Xbox 360 device (according to the product description at least).  This includes the wireless headset.

What's the catch?  The drivers for the receiver only work for XP at the moment.  The Vista drivers seem a little screwy.  I can confirm this as I have gotten my controller and headset to work on my XP laptop using the receiver, but not on my Vista desktop.

Well it works in control panel but when I click on Battlefield 2, Fable, etc. The game minimizes and you can't play anymore

Sorry, but you are just plain wrong. I have been using the 360 controller with the play and charge kit to connect it to my pc for over 6 months. Both windows XP and Vista.

But thanks for playing.....

Um no you cannot play with your WIRELESS controller with a plug and play kit, that plug and play kit DOES NOT transmit data whatsoever when it is plugged into your XBOX360 (or PC) it simply connects to the console to charge the battery, it is still transmiting wirelessly even when plugged into the console or pc via the play and charge kit, so you MUST have the wireless gaming adapter.

Now the wired xbox360 controller is a different story.

Stright from the microsoft websie for the WIRELESS 360 controller. notice the connectivity item. USB. This is achieved by using the play and charge kit, the same way the play and charge kit works with the 360.

oh and as for the connectivity being USB, how do you think the Wireless gaming reciever connects to the PC, through Osmosis?

You can't use the play and charge kit to play on the PC, you have to use a USB controller wired controller or get the Wireless gaming reciever.

jaminator45, you're flat out wrong. The wireless controller ONLY transmits data to the 360 wirelessly. This is true even if it is plugged in via the play and charge kit. No data is ever transmitted over that cable, only power to the battery. A PC doesn't have the hardware to accept the wireless signal from the 360 wireless controller UNLESS you buy the Wireless Gaming Receiver and install it. We can conclude that one of the following is true regarding your statement that you have been using the wireless controller with a PC for the last six months: 1.) You have the Wireless Gaming Receiver and don't know it and/or you are ignoring this fact. 2.) You are in fact using the wired controller and not the wireless controller with a play and charge kit as you claim. 3.) You are lying in an attempt to start a flame war and/or get some attention. 4.) You are delusional and in need of psychiatric assistance. 5.) You really have inadvertently discovered a way to make your 360 wireless controller connect to your PC without the Xbox wireless accessory adapter. I suspect that the truth is a combination of 2 and 3, but part of me is really hoping it's 5, despite this being completely contrary to everything MS has told us about the wireless controller over the last 18 months. Perhaps you could post some pics of your exact setup? Or better yet a vid showing you using the alleged wireless controller? That would certainly silence the doubters. Until then, the TC needs to know this: To use your wireless controller with a PC, you need the Wireless Gaming Receiver.
