A cooler? As in the intercooler fan? the third party thing? Don't buy it. They don't even really cool down your system.

why?icetea4u2c
it can break your system. it will melt the place where it is plugged in, and if u have it in a good well ventalated place it should be fine, and dont have it on the carpet.

it voids the warranty. all you gotta do is turn it off after about 5 hours for like 30 min and you should be fine.

no its not

the 360 doesn't overheat. When the 360 does overheat it flashes two red lights and shuts itself off. Now have you EVER read about that happening? no. nothing on this board about 360 hardware problems have been about overheating. Its all separate stuff. 3 red lights doesn't mean it is overheating. Stupid people who don't read the manual just think it does. And that is how those crappy third party peripherals makers take people's money because they're dumb enough to believe the internet.

the coolers increase the chance of having a hardware failure (3 red lights) due to them sucking power away from the 360. And the coolers void your warrenty, so if you do get a hardware failure YOU FAIL AT LIFE!

you say it will overheat like it has never happened.

here are some tips.

one, do not buy the intercooler

two, put the 360 in place that is WELL VENTILATED

three, put the power brick on top of something, not on the ground (this helped me because my 360 was freezing up, so i put it on my subwoofer, and it hasn't frozen up since.)

four, give your 360 a break.

It's not going to overheat.  Why would MS make a product that is going to break unless EVERY singe person purchased a third party product?  MS wouldn't be making money from it, no one would buy the 360, and they would be up to their eyeballs in lawsuits for selling a product that doesn't work.  Don't buy the intercooler.  Just keep your box in a well ventalated area.

I use this:

http://www.maxconsole.net/?mode=news&newsid=6458

its a USB powered device that draws very little power and does not void your warranty - it also allows your 360 to remain horizontal - I've been using it for 6 months and it works wonderfully (you do have to screw with the positioning to make sure the fans are set right

even if it doesn't overheat additionalcooling isn't a bad idea if its the right kind - the 360 is an electrical device - the cooler said device will run, the longer you can expect it to last

Who asks for help and then insults people trying to understand? No wonder this person thinks his 360 will overheat, he's an idiot. In this case, I hope he does buy an intercooler.
