No problems & it shouldn't cause any. Your console is too valuable to not use the surge protector anyways right?

thanks for the replies guys. I just read on xbox.com that it should be plugged directly into the wall. I for the life of me couldn't understand why lol. im just being very cautious this time around...i just bought this xbox only 1 month ago. and i couldn't find a jasper so i ended up getting the one that had indiana jones and kung fu panda boxed in. just want this console to last me for a long time :)

Both of mine are plugged straight into the wall, haven't had any problems. Just don't play during lightning storms! I live in Vegas so that's not much of a problem for me, but dust is. lol

I've had two 360 Elites die on me and this is my third one that I've had for a long time with no problems. When my first one died, I called MS and they asked if it was plugged into a surge protector. I said yes, and they said that can kill them. I didn't believe him.

When I got my new one, I plugged it into my protector again. Died.

When I got my next new one, I plugged into wall. No problems since.

Make what you will of it, but MS says plug directly into wall.

I'm pretty sure they only recommend that because some people might have a lot of things on the same protector or it might be a cheap one that doesn't handle a lot of watts. Most surge protectors handle at least 1800+ watts so it really doesn't matter. This is all speculation on my part though.

My 360 is also plugged into a protector; no problems so far.

Ive heard from many people that you should plug a console directly into a wall.

I also had two 360s die on me when I had em in a surge protector. My currect 360 I have plugged into the wall and have had no issues.

So who knows really.. Makes sense to put electronics in a surge protector, but Ive been hearing differnt about 360s lately.

I've had mine for about 3-4 years and it's always been in a surge protector. I got the RROD once but I don't think that had anything to do with it. I wonder why xbox.com would say to plug it directly into a wall when that leaves the console more vulnerable. I'll call and find out. Ever since they pissed me off I have no problems calling them with the smallest of inqueries (sp?-i'm tired @ work)

yeah I dunno about microsoft and their policies. but it does say to plug it directly into the wall on their website. I was puzzled by that as well. I guess I'm just gonna leave it plugged into the surge protector for now. I just have too many things plugged in at the moment and can't plug it into the wall but at the same stime i don't see why you wouldn't want to plug it into a surge protector. oh well thanks microsoft! lol

I had my 360 for over a year no problems until I got a surge protector for it, after that 1 week later my 360 got rrod. Now I plug my 360 straight into the wall socket. Also the power brick is a surge protector in itself.

It is recommended that you DON'T have your 360 plugged into a surge protector because the 360's power brick has it's own surge protector built in.

That being said, I've had mine plugged into one for a good year and a half and haven't had any problems with it ;)

The 360's power brick IS it's own surge protector, its not a good idea to plug a surge protector into another surge protector (called daisy chaining I believe).
