Can you please tell me : -
*Do you keep your 360 or power brick on the carpet?
*Do you keep your 360 or power brick in a enclosed space?
*Is all the fans free from anything blocking them?
*Does anyone spay polish near the 360?
*Do you move your 360 around alot? (e.g. take to friends house)

You can laugh but some dumb a** would do it.
no its not on the carpet, i had my 360 next to my ps3 but i moved the ps3 to a different location to add more space. the fans are free. no one sprays polish near it. i don't move it around, i never took it to a friends house. Can you please tell me : -

Well you sound like you just plain unlucky then. Unless there is some other dumb-a** thing you could be doing to break them.
I've had my 360 from day 1 and have not had any trouble with it. Plus my friends who have a 360 haven't had any problem with it.
I'm on my third console too. I have my 360 sitting verticle like 8 or so inches away from my big screen sitting on the hardwood floor. The refurbished one i have now is working like a champ though. Hopefully no more stupid red flashing lights. I think some of my problems were leaving in on overnight ( but it wasn't playing a game, it was just on the dashboard), but I don't know why that would hurt the console...stempler69
it shouldn't, i leave my console on alll the time. i guess that 360 is faulty, good to hear that your refurb is working though and hopefully the OP gets a 360 that isn't defected
I am not making a comment to you campbell1874 but it's riduculous that we have to follow all these rules (and I do it too) just to keep a 360 working. It's still an unreliable machine. Can you please tell me : -

i don't follow any of that and i've had no problems. and i've had my 360 over a year now. i'd say it's reliable.

I agree. My 360 freezes and crashes almost everyday. I want to send it in to get it fixed but then I won't have anything to play for the 2 weeks it'll be gone. The 360 is the most unreliable console I've ever owned, and the only thing that keeps me from trading it in for something else are the games that are coming out this year. Mass Effect, DMC4, FFXIII (possibly), Blue Dragon, etc.Can you please tell me : -

Have you thought that maybe the location your 360 is on might be the problem. Because its pretty weird that 3 360's have broken already. Maybe you have yours in an enterteinment unit or an enclosed space. If your 360 is very hot every time you turn it off, that will become a general hardware failure.gp19
ive had 3 units in the space of three months, and all have both in well ventaled areas.

HAHA, I don't think he's laughing that someone would spray polish, he's laughing that your wrote: "SPAY POLISH", as in, to remove one's reproductive organs. and "POLISH" as in the Western European Country who the Nazis first invaded in WWII.refurbished means it's fixed, it may even have new parts. Sure a new console would be nice but refurb is just as good. If it breaks then it's bad luck. I'm still on my launch 360. NO problems what so ever, not worries either, it's been dropped a couple times, it's a solid console. some peolpe just get bad luck. i guess...reubendarosa
I was posting messages like this up untill a month ago.. when my launch console finally died. Such a sad day.. I called 1884myxbox and spoke to some dude who shafted me and told me that my warranty is expired and i need to buy a new HD/HV cable (wtf?). I called again on Sat and spoke to a lovley young woman who said they will replace mine for free. Hopefully when i get this new one it lasts just as long if not longer. If this one dies, I'm just going to buy a new one at Best Buy and get their warranty so i can just go get a new one on the spot if it dies on me. Best Buy Warranties rule.

Refurbs also go through a more rigorous set of Quality Assurance tests than new products do.

that sucks dude, well all i know is i treat my 360 like my PC, on pretty much all the time, i play alot, every weekend i bring it to my bro's house then at the end of the weekend back to my house...
I think it's pretty durable. though even if it was to break, im not too worried, i have a warranty with microsoft because it was made before 06

thats not exactly true i sent my first 360 in and when i got my second one the serial number was different meaning they sent me someone elses busted " refurbished " console. i never saw my original console again.
my first 360 got the three red lights, so i sent it back.it was 11 months old. the second 360 they sent me kept freezing so i sent that one back right away. the 360 i currently have is about to go(red lights last night). when your system breaks microsoft should send you a new one not a refurbished piece of garbage. what's the point of having the system if it keeps breaking and you can never play it? the only thing that is making me stick with this console is the games.darkghost75
i dont blame you for being angry im on my third console already and yeah we as a consumer paid the $ 400 and some odd dollars for a new console not a refurbished peice of crap that will bust in a couple of months .

Yea i hear ya. I treated mine like a princess too, i guess it was just time for it. I loaded up Gears and got into a matcha nd my picture went all fuzzy and i lost all picture after like 5 seconds of cracking and popping when i reached behind the console i noticed that it was EXTREMELY hot, so i knew it had nothing to do with a HD/AV cable like the first jacka$$ told me. Whats funny is that maybe 10 days before mine died i had a online buddy whos system died, then about 4 days after that my cousin called me and told me that his died, 3 days after that mine died just like my cousins did and then NEXT DAY my friend from work had his system died... scary stuff. its hard tioo deny unreliability with stats like that. Anyways like i said i just hope my new one is my last one cause i dont want to keep going back and forth with Microsoft its been a month and Im DYING! Friggin TMNT 1989, Castlevainia SOTN, GRAW2 and Alien Homind are all out and those are games i have been waiting for. I hear double Dragon is supposed to come out next week plus Guitar Hero 2 is coming out in like 2 weeks. Oh well i guess it will be tha much sweeter when i get my system back.. i should start buying games now lol.

I said the same thing as you 2-3 weeks ago. On march 19th my launch 360 (manufactered date 10-17-2005) got the ring of death, you will see by yourself when it's happen that really suck and you lose confidence in this product...I purchased an extended warranty with MS good thing
guess you've never heard of a WARENTYalpowerfull
WARENTY ? no I tried to translate this on google and I got nothing

just s h u t up please...there is always some lame excuse for why a sytem has a hardware failure. I never had any hardware failures with any electronic system i have ever owned until i bought the 360. it went strong for a 1 1/2, then it bricked. am i mad? not really. things just happen. the system i bought was just faulty. so what? i got a new one and its working fine. i just hate when people post questions like that. they sound like the dumbasses at tech support who read off a screen. no, none of the above happened. it just bricked damnit! stop asking stupid questions to cover up the real matter at hand. they screwed up somewhere along the line. does it mean the system sucks. helllllll no. the 360 is great. sometimes the manufacturing process takes a hit here and there. just suck it up and get replace it.
Man it's still weird how all these people's 360 are dieng yet mine hasn't failed in over a year.
vegas_6
my 360 lasted up until two weeks ago. i had it since launch. i never had a system fail before. it just happens sometimes. you've been lucky bro. i rememeber about 5 months back, i raved about my system not failing on me but eventually it did. you can never speek to soon. so just enjoy. glad yours has made it this far. hope it stays that way. l8r.
