Well for a few days now my friend has been telling me how his 360 has not been working well for him in the past few days. Slow downs, crashes, and such... He decides to give the system a break for about three days. So three days have come and he turns on his system. Oh before I go on he has had the system for about since the Elite has came out. So back to the story, he turned his system on... When it was loading it turns out his system will not pass through the main screen (The X-Box Logo). It stays there and just shines in anticipation as it wants to be played. But there is no loading going through the game or either the dashboard. I also checked if it may of been a "Red Ring of Death" problem. But it seems like there is nothing I can find wrong with it. So I decided to detach his hard drive and put it back on. But nothing has worked. I come to the conclusion after 5 hours of trying to fix it that I do not know the right solution to this problem...

So I need you...

Does anyone know what may possibly be the problem and if they know a solution I would be grateful for it.

...or

Do we trash the system call Microsoft and wait for the box and everything?

Thank you.

[edit]

Sorry I may have this in the wrong topic but I am in a rush and need to go to work.

I think you are in the right to ask for help first and I have respect for those that are willing to try and fix the problem themselves, so kudos! Anyway my 360 would get to the loading screen as well but it froze up. The 360 logo would appear but you could not see the logo shine or anything of the sort. So after turning it off and then back on again it would load right up and I was good to go. Your problem sounds similar and I unfortunately do not have a solution. I would however recommend you to look into gamespots tech support to see what you can find and maybe see if any of the mod people would have a solution. If you don't get any results soon though I say its time to cash in on that warranty.

If it's under the one year warranty call Microsoft. Everything you purchase is under it. If it's no longer under it but rather under the 3 year red ring of death than over heat your Xbox. This can be done by covering it but by a few towels and leaving it running for hours.

A couple of htings you can try actually.

First, unplug the power brick from the wall and from the 360 unit. Leave them off for a few minutes as the light on the brick will hold a charge for a bit after it is unplugged. Some hardware can get static lock and effectively causes unusual behavious. While the console is unplugged, remove the hardrive, and keep it off.

Plug in the console without the hard drive and see if it boots. If it does, it was either static lock, or the hard drive causing the problem. Then turn it off, reattach the hard drive, turn it on, log onto live and do any updates it requires, If it doesn't boot still, you could have a corrupted dashboard file, or eeprom which tells the hardware how to boot. Somethign like this can only be repaired by a microsoft tech center, so you would have to call them.

Another thing to try is boot up by pressing the power button so it loads without any controller plugged in. Otherwise, I can't help any further.
