iPhones and iPod Touches won't work on the 360, there's no update you can download to make it work. You'll have to put your music on a USB drive to listen to it

If you enable the ability for your iPod to be used as a storage device you may be able to do it.

P.s. you can stream music from a PSP though. My friendswouldlook at it and just shake their heads.

The update you're referring to is to give the 360 the ability to read and play un-DRM'd AAC files, since it would be common for an iPod user to re-rip their mp3 collection into that codec (since it's actually quite good for music). I think the iPhone/iTouch thing has more to do with signal voltages (a mechanical thing) than it is a software thing, since this has been a problem with many of those iPod integration systems made for cars that either can't read the newer iPhone/iTouch at all, or can read it, but won't charge it.

Only older iPods work on the 360 and PS3. iPod Touches and iPhones do not work. The reason is how they're programmed to handle their storage. Older iPods used to use the USB Mass Storage driver to handle communcations between it and host machine (for Windows anyway), but starting with the first iPhone, Apple changed the format to a proprietary form of the Media Transfer Protocol, I'm guessing for protection. Because of this, the 360 and PS3 cannot read the data off of them

There is your explanation.

I believe iPod classics also work as they're just revised 5th Generation iPods.

Any other Ipod (which happen to be apple products) ,Works on The xbox 360 ( Microsoft console), Ipod touch and iphones dont work since they use different proprietary software that can't be accessed by the 360.

Well they used to work because they had an update you could get. They still have the update on the marketplace but it doesn't work with the apple products ever since nxe they stoped using it foe some reason.

ipods do work with the media update exept the phone and touch but they will only play music on the ipod thats been copied from your cd library and not anything purchased from itunes which is odd
