The PC has had its fair share of problems with piracy, but is the 360 really that far behind now? I mean 2 big games of this year, Alan Wake and Lost Planet 2 have been leaked to download a couple of days ago! You cant get these games in the shop at the moment, yet there are people already playing these games! Will we start to see intrusive DRM on the 360 soon?

There is already DRM implemented on XBox 360, but hackers have already cracked it. I suspect the future of games is download only, like OnLive. It cracks down on piracy and video game resale. I suspect currently game producers loose more money to game resale then piracy on the 360.

Yeah the second hand market is not helping the industry tbh. But these 2 games (a lot of people have been looking forward to) are available to be downloaded for free week or weeks before the release date. Its getting too easy for people to get things for free now, you gotto worry about the industry.

dont bother me, free alan wake and free lost planet 2 sounds nice espieally before the release date u must have other pirated media, pc software, music, films or tv shows? its all the same and as bad as each other, i think if you look down on one form of media pirarcy but partake in another all it makes you is a hypocrite

Yes, it's still far behind the PC. Recent stats showed this. Games get leaked early, but 360 games still sell well. Hackers get banned from Live eventually (if they care about Live then they'll have to keep their other 360 clean).

Don't get my wrong, I've pirated a significant amount of digital media in my day. I'm pretty much a packrat when it comes to warez. It's mainly a way of perserving it. I never try and make money or exploit it in any way. I always buy the game if I like it, and if I don't I delete it.

I had a similar discussion with a friend a few weeks back...eventually games, movies and music will only be available through download...more evidence that full digital distribution is coming sooner then we think.

Wont happen..the retail chain is an very IMPORTANT part when it comes down to selling games. If you think they can do only downloading you have another thing coming. There's a certain number of people who don't have adequate internet..there's some people who don't have credit cards, there's some people who do cash only (a very large number by the way). It's just too many obstacles to consider to think it's smart to make things download only. It'll NEVER happen. And piracy for the most part is definitely not hurting the consoles right now..especially when you got a games like MW2 making 1Billion Dollars. That is a hell of allot of money. Most people don't have the know how to mod their console which is a good thing. (some of the stuff needed to do can be advanced) PC's, you install and copy some things and it's over, so that's why it's killing the PC gaming ind.

Dude....you made some valid points, but those people you mentioned will eventually become a small minority(companies will still find a way to get their cash though)lol.Full digital distribution is inevitable...sooner or later.
