Just like any electronic there is always a chance of it breaking, new or old. Do the old 360's have a better chance of breaking? Yes. You shouldn't really worry since the system comes with a 1 year warranty now. If it does happen to break you just mail it in and get it fixed.limpbizkit818
It's usually the older models. i.e. the ones in the initial manufacturing batch. The most common problem seems to be overheating but as long as you don't play your 360 for 10 hours straight infront of gas oven and keep it in a well ventilated place it shouldn't be a problem. My 360 broke a week or 2 ago actually. Wasn't due to overheating but it was in the original manufacturing batch so I just put it down to that. Got it fixed no problem and they had it about to me about a week later.
I wouldn't worry much about it breaking though. The problem is that you don't hear about all the 100,000`s that work prefectly. Just the odd ones that don't. There was a thread on here a few weeks ago about a guy that smashed his 360 to pieces and it still worked.
yeah..my launch unit died on Jan 1 (red lights of doom). no problems up until that point. I bought a core unit and used parts from my premium. I couldnt wait to play lost planet so I had to buy it. still need to send in my first one to be fixed.
will microsoft fix the launch units even if the warranty is up? the launch units only came w/ a 90 day.shooly_76
