I know this topic will probably get locked, but I really wish they would put reliability and quality first for the consumers that shell out there hard earned money to enjoy their favorite hobby. There are probably hundreds of issues that have surfaced in the 360, and how many different models have they had so far? Seems like they're only concerned with mass production instead of durability and quality. This is not a post to bash the 360, because it is my preferred console and my favorite games are on it. I'm just frustrated because I'm on my second 360 (both of which I paid full price for), this one being a Jasper model from 2009, and it's having problems reading game discs.

The recent reports in 2010 of console failure rates: No Fuss Reviews says it polled 500,000 site visitors for each of the three major console platforms. 42 per cent of Xbox 360 owners said that their console had needed repairing or been replaced due to fault, compared to eight per cent of PS3 owners and one per cent of Wii owners.

That's just ridiculous in my opinion...

No. Major Nelson just told me about 2 weeks ago at PAX East when questioned on the PR f(or) Podcasting panel that all of the 360 issues were now behind them. :| I hate that guy more and more every day. How can someone lie through their teeth and just be alright with it while they were originally charging me $150 for a repair in 2006 and 2007.

Yeah, they really shoved it out the door in time for xmas 08. thats all they cared about. money. and they know their market, and know what games they'll like. they knowingly sent out faulty hardware. and it has cost them, ALOT. lets hope their next console is better, not just in hardware, but software as well.

My 360 finally red ringed a few months ago, and the 360 I got back from MS has had disc reading issues since I got it. Not bad enough for me to send it back, but I'm pretty sure the laser is getting worn out. It's ridiculous.

I bet ps3 owners just voted that because almost everyone i know who owns a ps3 would rather die instead of admit the 360 is better (which, it isn't). Although it has a high failure rate, it's definately not that high.

its going to stay high intell all the other old models out there go, but the new ones, seemfine.

Edit: actually it will probably stay high regardless, even though the new ones have a very low failure rate. You cant undo all the old models that have already failed.

The one I have now that's having problems reading game discs is a 2009 Jasper model. Got it brand new in October.

Jasper is reliable.

I'm tired of chiming 'SquareTrade' in every one of these threads I find. But they clocked Jasper at 2% first year RROD. MS is getting it under control.

they screwed up, it's a fact, but dwelling on the past is getting old. This poll is 'new' but they claimed their poll last years was 57% or somethig.

so a 15% drop suggests that Jasper/Falcon were genuine improvements.

Have you ever heard of scientific polling? Let me just pose this question: What percentage of Wii owners visit that site or any gaming news source for that matter?
