I am about to get a 360 and cannot also afford an hdtv so was going to hook it up to my 19" LCD monitor. It currently runs beautifully at 1280 x 1024. Just wondered what options the 360 has available for different resolutions. Is it possible to select what res you want, etc, or is it defaulted to a certain one? Also I'm afraid that games will be letterboxed - is this the case? Thanks in advance for any advice ;)

I'm pretty sure you can't select the resolution.

Yes, you can select the resolution the 360 runs at while on a monitor. You just go to the last blade on the dashboard (you'll know where that is when you get the 360) and pick the first option. You'll be able to set the res as well as screen type (Widescreen vs fullscreen) and the black level. Some games will letterbox and others will fill the whole screen if you're playing on a 4:3 monitor.
