It's a 250gb Slim model

It's turning on by itself.
No controllers are connected
No USB anything is connected

I turn it off and it turns right back on within 5 seconds.
I basically can't turn it off without unplugging the power cord

The 1st controller port lights up but there is no controller on at all. It can't be a neighbour either because it's been doing it for about 18 hours straight

I've disconnected the power cable for an hour and when I plugged it back in, It turned on right away
I've also made sure the touch sensitive power button on the console is clean and nothing is touching it to turn it on.

Please keep your "xbox sucks", "it's a ghost" and all that rubbish to yourslef. lol
Any ideas?

My first thought was some kind of controller input being registered - perhaps some random 'all in one' remote happens to have the right frequency to power-on your system. Another thought would be that the area that takes a 'button press' to power-on might be slightly stuck.

Well, maybe you should pay more attention to it then. :P

Joking aside, I doubt there's a fix for that without having it professionally looked at. If a controller isn't doing it, or someone isn't screwing with you, then there has to be some sort of problem with either the power brick or inside the 360 itself.

It's a ghost, bro! But seriously, I can see how that would get incredibly annoying.

I think this is your best bet, that or active downloads are restricting it from shutting down (there are a lot of problems with that feature)

does your neighboors have xbox 360? because its not hard for them to be turning on their system and it turn on yours, or they can be messing with you by going by your window and turing thier controller on which will turn your system on

False.

they cannot turn on his console from their house, with their controllers. each controller must me sync'd to a 360 or it will not work. so when they sync'd their controllers to their 360, they would NOT be able to turn on anyone elses 360, but their own.(without re-syncing to a different console)

so unless they found a way to press the sync button on TCs 360, it wont work.

The same thing happened to me with my slim. The reason is that the touch sensor on either the eject or power button is overly sensitive to electricity (this is because only your finger can turn it on similar to how only your finger can use an iPhone screen) because your finger has a slight charge to it. If you have it on a rug, this could happen.

If you live in an apartment your next door neighbours may inadvertly be turning on your Xbox 360 Slim when the are using the Xbox 360 as an internet television reciever. Using a smart phone to turn on. or record television programs. The Xbox 360 Slimline can be used as a PVR for internet television providers. Plus it is smartphone remote activation that could be causing your Xbox 360 s to turn on be itself.

whats your audio/visual set-up like. I have mupltiple HDMI inputs going into my tv at the same time as my xbox it will turn itself on and off soemthimes while I'm switching through the inputs. this problem was intensified by my wierd head-set set-up. to get around it I have to unplug all my other HDMI cables and just leave the xbox's in while using it.

sounds like a hardware issue, those issues can only get worse, so i'd say call hardware support before the issue progressively gets any worse.

And you definitely don't want to leave it on all the time, as that can also cause hardware failure

it might be the phantom of the 360. legend has it that the first 360 to red ring didnt go down without a fight. it started infecting other consoles of the same model until it felt that it did enough damage. to this day it occasionaly comes back to prank new models, by turning them on/off because it cant infect them....with the RING OF DEATH. oooooooooooOOOOoooooooo

Try removing the batteries from your controller, then you may see if the controller is the problem.;)

Could be the multiplatform ghost of Bayonetta 2, so I'd just blame Nintendo.

Mine turned on in the middle of the night and I realized it was my cat. She often messes with stuff in our bedroom to wake us up. I'm so glad she didnt understand that she could turn it on just by lightly touching it (new style 360). I'd be in so much trouble if that happens.
