Hi. I use the 360's VGA cable with a 24" PC monitor and a surround sound system simplybecauseit is cheaper than buying a HDTV.Its one of the reasons I haven't bought a PS3.One of my friends said today that he thinks it isn't as good as having a HDTV even though the picture is just as clear if not better. Anyone else use a VGA cable with a monitor for their 360? Also, is there gonna be an update for it to support higher resolutions?

I love the the fact it is so cheap compared to buying a HDTV and that it is so clear. Although I think I might have damaged my monitor slightly unplugging the VGA cable when it is on.

I do it all the time, it looks great and I prefer it over buying an HDTV(until I earn enough money for it). The new Xbox 360 dashboard update will support resolutions up to 1680x1050.

I used to use the 360 VGA cables for my computer monitor until just recently. Currently I run it using a transcoder since I also wanted my PS3 hooked up to it. Now I have both systems on my monitor at 720p and it looks fantastic.

Hes wrong, the difference is that with a full on HDTV you get way more settings and all then you would get with a 24" high-res monitor.

Either way, you should be fine, in fact, when i use my HDTV, all i do is play with my settings, on my PC monitor, the limitted options mean that what im seeing is more than 'correct'

I just bought a 21" CRT that goes up almost to 1080p. I cant wait. I used VGA a while ago on my LCD and it looked amazing, I cant wait to see it on this baby lol. It's probably the best thing Microsoft has done IMO - the VGA cable that is. Instead of spending a grand on an HDTV just use your computer monitor or buy a 20$-30$ CRT that goes up to about 1800x1440 or 1600x1200 or something along those lines.
