I bought this monitor for my PC 2 days ago

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8894039&type=product&id=1211587387558

Its a nice monitor with both VGA and DVI input. Now my question is that I want to get the 360 VGA cables so I can plug them into my monitor. My monitor is currently hooked up from the DVI to my PC. So the VGA is free for use with the xbox 360. So once I get the cables and get it all hooked up. Can I switch between the 2 modes with no problem as if I had a console selector to swtich between my gaming systems. Like press a button on have my monitor go back to PC and press a button and it switches to my 360, How does this work?

it depends on the monitor. usually monitors have few buttons where u can adjust brightness, contrast, or change the source (DVI or VGA)

Interesting question. I've got the VGA cables, but only have my xbox hooked up to the monitor. My guess is that since the monitor has two inputs, it also has a selector option hidden in the menu system (the buttons on your monitor.) You'll likely have to switch back and forth with these.

Didn't answer his question in the least...

Anyways, OP. It depends on the monitor. Some have it in their menu, kinda like selecting the source on your TV, others, you have to change it within your PCs OS.

360 on a 19 inch? Are you gonna be on top of it? As for your question, depends on the monitor, I like Gateway,. they're a reasombly good company so I'm sure it's an easy to access feature.... seriously though, 360 on 19 inches?

Unless your monitor is crap, there will be a button called source, which switches between vga and dvi. I have my 360 in vga and Mac in dvi.

When you sit in front of it like it's a PC, it's fine, trust me. In fact, whenever I decide to throw my 360 on my monitor, I play better for some reason.

Yeah, not sure if it's due to my PC gaming days either. But for a shooter, the desk with monitor setup kicks ass. Even tried playing Gears multiplayer on a 60 inch plasma? That's hard...

I can't get used to a TV set up while people that have always been on console are a lot better off on it then I am. Actualy TC, if you got HDMI to DVI and the HDMI cable pack for the 360, that would output the best image quality.

My monitor has VGA & DVI as 2 options and if you choose the 3rd option it will auto-select the source. I have a Dell 19" widescreen LCD.

Do you see the first button called Input? That switches between digital/analog source.

As for your monitor, even though you didn't ask about our opinions, it's gonna suck. I have a 22'' widescreen monitor with DVI/BGA as well and after a while the screen feels kinda small (sitting only 50cm away). Can't imagine how small it must be on 19''...:?

Yeah I see the input button. I will be all set then. As for size of things I find it harder to play on a bigger screen. I consider my self an above average gamer. handle myself very well in all FPS games and will play any genre game. I played COD4 Mile high club on veteran on my friends 40" plasma screen and it was so hard to get the achievement for him because of the size of his screen. I feel your eyes lose too much while trying to cover the massive screen. Although looking great is it worth the lack of your own performance as a gamer, I personally don't think so. The average gamer will always say yes because they assume bigger is better. although I would love it for movies and TV. Playing on my smaller 20" tube TV very old style I handle my self a lot better. So I think I will enjoy the quality and size of my monitor with the 360.
