You need to buy a reciever that has an optical input and has dolby digital. As far as speakers go, just listen to them in the store and make you decision based on that. You need a 5.1 surround system (2 front speakers, 2 satellite speakers, a center channel, and a subwoofer).
If you go to www.avsforums.com they have some good threads dedicated to audio.
Would any of these work?

sorry to be off topic , but i have 6 speakers can i just buy a reciever and put my 6 speakers on that? all my speakers are normal they have bass and normal sound.
I took a look at the first link in your post and it does not look like it has any kind of a digital input. This is typical of systems that include a built in DVD player. This system would be over-kill for you anyway since you can use your 360 to play DVD or perhaps have one already. You do need to make sure that surround receiver that you get has an optical input, there is also a coax digital input that is used for home theater gear that will not work with the 360. You mentioned that all your speakers are bass. Are they subwoofers?
I hope the info helps.

i mean they work like a speaker and a woofer every single one of the six speakers so im wondering if i can just buy a reciever with digital input, and plug my speakers into that reciever i dunno if they are gonna do 5.1 or not so i need help in this.
yeah thanks this helps. So should I get one without a dvd player? If not what exactly should i buy?pdotjames4
just buy a simple one only a 5.1 device with digital input and dolby sorround you dont need more than this, because you already have dvd player which its your xbox360 , i think you can find another 5.1 device with a cheaper price just buy it alone without any other stuff so you can save your money

Sure, if the speakers are normal ones with speaker wire you can connect them to a receiver. Most have 7.1 so you can probably use all 6 speakers and even special sound modes to simulate the 6th channel for 5.1 only material. So a center channel, 2 front left and right channels, rear surround left and right channels, and a 6th rear center channel.
Can any of your speakers go down to 30hz atleast? Most high end tower speakers stall at 40hz. Good bookshelf speakers usually stall around 50-60hz. All that is great for music, but if you want to shake the room and rumble the couch, a sub is most likely needed.
What size woofers do your speakers have. Like 5inches, 6inches, and how many?
Currently I'm using an Onkyo 5.1 channel receiver (model TX-SR304). I bought it for use with my 360, and PC. It has 2 digital inputs (Toslink) and 1 Digital Coaxial input. It also has HDTV component switching (no HDMI).

For speakers I am using Klipsch RB-61.

I didn't get them from Best Buy. I went to a home theater store.
I have a Bose 3-2-1 system hooked up to my 360 and the quality of the sounds that come through those small speakers is just utterly rediculous. It's a bit pricey at 899$ but well worth the investment, i never knew how much small noises and sounds make to gameplay. Hearing footsteps of approaching enemies as well as ambient sounds that i never even knew existed doubles my enjoyment of my 360 games.
My advice is to make sure you buy quality speaker wire. It does make a difference in the long run because the higher quality speaker wire will enable a crisper, sharper sound based on its ability to handle more power.
Xbox 360 + 5.1 = an experience like no other
Good luck and enjoy!

i have 4 speakers that are 7 inches and 2 speakers that about 3 inches, and for the woofer i have 4 speakers that the woofer size is about 4 inches and the other 2 speakers have a 2 inch woofer, hope this is enough to enjoy the experiement :)
yeah my only problem is that the ones without a dvd player are more expensive, and i need to save money. I plan on getting a new LCD too. And i found this one for $99:

And i'm confused whethersurround soundwill work with a dvd player or it wont work with a dvd player?????And the oneabove is a 5.1 will it work?
There's nothing like listening and playing your games to Dolby Digital or True THX Surround Sound. Do yourself a favor and look into the Onkyo Receivers. Hell, even my old 7.1 Dolby Digital Onkyo is only like $200-300 bucks now. I recently upgraded to the TX-SR804 with THX surround. 100 watts per channel and OH man, the quality and clarityis crazy!
