I saw an xbox 360 commercial promoting the 360S at $199.

Does this mean they're selling the new 360S with smaller HDD sizes?

Wow, that's the dumbest thing I've heard in a while... But hey, I could just buy the 250 GB separately and put it in, right? Not that I would, just saying.

Yeah. They should have just sold a 60 GB HDD with it for $199 or something.

Maybe they're trying to push people to spend the extra money for the 250 gig. The more expensive console is going to look amazing if the cheaper version is complete crap :p

I have the new slim though. For me it was worth every penny. Althought I did the gamestop trade in and paid very very little for it which makes it that much more worth it!

It's the arcade version with 4gb of memory, not a 4gb hard drive. People seem to think it's a hard drive with only 4gb but it's not a hard drive, it will be 4gb of memory. It can be internal storage or flash, we just don't know yet, but one thing for sure it is not a hard drive. Just wanted to get that straight since some are still confused about that.

^this^ It is internal flash memory, and as much as everyone says it is useless, you have to look at the people who bought the Core/Arcade xbox 360 and got like a 256/512Mb memory card. For gamers like them this is a HUGE upgrade! This is not simply to sell more of the 250gb version, it is Microsoft appealing to a different crowd.

So it's HDD-less? That's actually an amazing deal then. So I can buy a 250 GB HDD to put in the 360 in addition to the 4 GB of memory built in?

This topic AGAIN? The 4Gb hard drive is basically what an Arcade was, with more memory! It works if all you want to do it download arcade games/save games and DLC. Do I really need to go into how many KB it takes to make ONE GB?

It is. I mean if someone who can't afford to get the $300 Xbox now, they can just start off with the $200 arcade and get the HDD later when they have the cash. Not to mention this newer arcade unit is a lot better deal than the older design arcade. Built in wifi, 4GB internal memory and of course the new design.

I know. I'm saying I'd buy one of the smaller HDD's at a later time if I were to do so.

Why is that ? You can fit multiple XBLA games, DLC and even demos in the 4GB The only thing you cant do is install DVD disks actually, and since 360 S is so quite there is hardly any need to Of course that space can be also extended with any USB stick up to 16GB, and i bet everyone would have one or many of those

That is 100% false, it just does not support the old HDDs, it fully supports the new ones the 360 S model uses

The Arcade is the ideal one for me, but I'm not a "serious" gamer. I just own like 20 games, a XBL Original, 6 XBLA games and a few demos. I could fit all of that on a regular 20gb Pro model. 4 GB of internal memory is plenty enough space for playing games and having some DLC or a few XBLA titles. Plugging g in a flash drive or external HDD that's lying around your house or buying one for like $15 is enough to cover the rest.

People forget for years 75 million casual/core gamers have been using 512MB of Memory on the most popular gaming platform out there today, and downloading lots of new software as well as older software (albeit the memory solution is a bit complex)

4GBs Flash Memory for the 360 is a good idea, i just wish the 360 S was actually better looking

I'm happy even the $199 360 comes with WiFi, great move by MS. With USB drives so cheap a $199 360 with 4GB is no laughing matter, some gamers don't need that much

However, the old HDDs should work on the 360 S in my opinion and i wish it resembled the old console more, but was actually shorter (and not wider) Shaving off the memory card slots was a good idea, but the thing is what 17% smaller?

They could've made the old HDDs work, and made it 30% smaller, kept a similar look to the original, but no they went the cheap and easy route and changed very little on the inside except a giant fan.

Why not design the inside to not be prone to overheating as much WITHOUT the need for huge fans?

I know its more complex to make a console like the 360 than i make it sound like, but the reason why the 360 can't be the size of a PS2 slim, or Wii (or slightly bigger) in 2010 after 5 years on market is beyond me

You can still grab the old Elites for 249.99, right? If you're lucky, you could find that ODST/Forza 3 bundle that was floating around.

What's up the critcizing of the 4GB? That comes with almost 8x the space of the old arcades, plus you can throw in 5 16GB flashdrives into the USB ports. Don't tell me memory is a problem.
