Now i have this Panasonic Veira 42'' Plasma HDTV which i think is a bit old and i run my xbox 360 through it with component cables.. but i found it that whenever i set it to 1080i i cant play the games comfortably as i can feel the lag in response time especially in fast paced games.. so i sacrificied the graphics and now i'm running it on 480p with the component cables and its running smoothly with no delay in response time noticable at all.. so wat should i do ?

well thats weird a tv that supports 1080i but not 720p. but yeah it sounds like your tv has a bad refresh rate which cant be helped. Does the 360 do 720i?

No..

sucks that u cant do 720p

i find that 720p actually looks better on if u dont have support for 1080p

i play on 1080i Sony projector and 720p looks a lot clearer and better imo than 1080i

I actually am sacrificing graphics for playing with no lag.. so thats why i'm playing on 480p with the component cables on a hdtv..

because 1080i i = interlaced. Go for 1080p for games p = progressive and response time is faste. i is for movies and tv since delay doesnt matter.

i'd personally go with 480p, cause the response delay can really mess with your skill... but hey, 480p isn't bad... there is a big difference with playing 480p instead of standard def.

1080i aint for games, 720p always looks better. ur tv aint high def thats why its stuggling. otherwise it could do 720p if its got a vga port then find out the best vga resoultion u can use and get the vga cable and use that screen res and u will get the best it can do
