Apparantly Wal-Mart is no longer stocking the HD-DVD drives and are selling them at Sam's Club.  So run b/c they probably wont last long.

Call before you go. I was tipped off on this deal the other day, and I went to 2 Sams Club stores today and they were still $180. I figured I'd have them ring it up just to check, and it wasn't on sale. This must be very YMMV.

I'd buy that, but I live in Canada and have never even heard of Sam's Club.

I'm just reporting what I read from another site.  Could be complete B.S., but then again, if you are interested might want to check out your local Sams club.

It's YMMV, as are all Wal-Mart/Sam's Club deals. I doubt very many have this price. The one near me has it for $122.

122 is still better than the 190 or whatever the price is.

Yeah you'll have that when a Blu-Ray player is included with Sony PS3's and they have been running specials on Blu-Ray discs on Amazon and at other stores.  HD-DVD may not win the war, but with Wal-Mart's announcement, it makes them a much better bet at this point in time.

I'm sorry for only owning the 360, but it is my favorite console. In any case I am a multiplatform gamer and intend on having all the consoles once I have enough revenue.

I love it when people try to insult me and have no idea what they're talking about.

HD-DVD and Blue-Ray players are old news. Great companies like Samsung are producing multi-platform players which play both formats (HD-DVD and Blue-Ray), thus emilnating the war of the DVDs and once again giving the consumer the choice back. :D

Yah good point, whos gonna buy a HDDVD or BluRay only drive when your gonna be able to get players that do both.  This is totally like the DVD-R vs DVD+R format war, the hardware makers got smart and fixed the disc makers stupid decisions.... Niether format will win, CONSUMERS will win.

No idea what I'm talking about? Re-read your post. Sounds like a PS3 fanboy whose stuck with a Blu-Ray player to me. The way you worded it definitely shows that your a fanboy to Blu-Ray. Whatever floats your boat though, hunnybuns.

One person post this and no one could confirm it plus the store on the receipt said it was 181. Could have been a pricing error.

This drive has been out for $200 forever and still no one buys it.  It doesn't matter how much Wal-mart sells it for.  Spiderman 3, Pirates 3 and any other Disney/Sony or Fox movie wont be on it.  Dude walks into walmart 4th qtr this year.  Wow HD dvd player for $300.  Not bad let me go get Spiderman 3 or Pirates 3 with it to watch with the family.  Oh snap! its not on hd-dvd?  Maybe I'll get a blu-ray player instead or just stick to dvds.
