Don't buy into all the hype.

Unless you have a 47 inch TV or bigger I seriously doubt you will be able to tell the difference between 720p or 1080p (providing you have a tv capable of 1080p, which many people think they do, but they really don't)

720p is just fine and is the standard used for xbox. However, most do 1080p too. It's all just pointless really. The biggest difference is not the resolution but things such as response time, color gamut, etc on your tv that will really either make a game look great or not

That's the res most 90% play at. So unless you got a HDTV in the 50"+ range then 720P is fine. But if you do have a larger TV then I'd shoot for 1080P. But I doubt you'll be missing anything while playing in 720p.

It depends how close you sit, I can definetely see the need for a greater resolution when I sit one meter from my 32 inch 720P screen.

why do people seem to think 1080 would make a difference on 360 fullstop? ,,,, its upscaling theres no extra detail there for 1080 to show :S

Because people want the best things in life. I'm very happy with my 32" 720p, it's so clear coming from a 26" SDTV.:D

Surely if the game supports 1080p and the TV, why not. Of course you'll get better picture quality. But I will say that 1080p up-scaling is kinda silly because you really aren't benefiting from anything more than what you'd get with 720p. But if the game and TV both do 1080p, that's definitely the better resolution to use.
