Go with 720p, it looks sharper and brighter. I don't want to go into details cause if I do, then I have to write a whole page on it.

1080i is not good for games and sports.

Yeah..that is the consensus... HOWEVER, most games dont move fast enough, and most newer TV's especially LCD's have very fast refresh rates. So even running at 1080i, you wont notice the "ghosting"... Its personal preference though, I run games at 720p...movies at 1080i or 1080p (depending what system I use) Here is one thing that is a fact though, and why lots of games dont come in 1080p, is that, if not developed and coded properly, some 1080p games take a performance hit, in the area of framerates (looking at you Virtua Tennis 3) But, experts say, you wont even notice a difference between 1080i and 1080p, (and thus be able to appreciate it) unless you have a display at least 50". I have a 52" LCD HDTV, and well honestly, I cannot tell the difference between 1080i and 1080p when it comes to gaming. Though for movies I can notice a sharper image @ 1080p...but its minimal, and nothing to go crazy over.

I run in 720p, 1080i may have a higher resolution but it is horrible for most games and movies. Stick with p ;)

1080i displays more detail. but it only really matters when your standing still. also 1080i tends to have better blending of colors. but 720p keeps a cleaner more crisp picture. making it look sharper. but in the amount of detail 1080i has more pixels on screen. but I find 720p is more than enough.

USE YOUR TV'S NATIVE RESOLUTION!!!!!!!..........If your tv is native 720p then use 720p and vice versa, if you use 1080i on a 720p tv it will not look as good. Just because your tv supports those resolutions doesn't mean they are native to it, pick your tvs native resolution to get the most out of your picture quality, if you need any help feel free to pm most people on here are complete noobs.

Ive played on both 720p and 1080i and honestly cant tell that much of a difference. This might be due to the change in screen size but, but ive seen 720p on a 42in and it doesnt look any better than 1080i on my 53 in...but thats just me. Ive never had any of ghosting either.

It really depends on your TV. Most older projection TVs have a native resolution of 1080i. But almost all newer TVs have a native resolution of 720p. Just use whatever resolution is native for your TV.
