I'm thinking of getting a Samsung 26" HD TV - It has brilliant specs, but the only thing I'm worrying about is the 8ms response time. Is that too slow for full enjoyment of the 360, especially on a TV of that size - or will I get used to it?

Feedback will be much appreciated -

Thanks.

I've played on 8ms briefly and I could notice the difference at first, especially on games like Gears, but I started to get used to it. Just checking that people who've been playing on 8ms long-term don't get annoyed about it.

Does anybody know if Response Time gets more or less noticable on bigger TVs?

Where did you hear that it was only un-noticeable under 5?

 Anyway, they used to say with PC gaming and LCDs anything under 20MS was great, and then it was 16MS, then 12MS.

As for 8MS, should be fine, MS wouldn't have used Samsungs LCDs with 8MS response times (I think the official LCDs had 8MS RS), if they weren't good enough.

Yes, same here. On games like Gears, the transition between standing and aiming seems slow... But once you start playing you seem to forget.

So, to confirm, 8ms shouldn't hold me back at all?

Your right - I wouldn't call 8 milliseconds slower, slow... But all the same, if you've spent alot of time playing on a CRT (0 ms), you can notice a slight change when you first play. But not on all games. For example, it's completely un-noticeable on Dead Rising.

Does 8ms really show if you put it side-by-side with a CRT? I was about to get an HDTV, but I definitely don't want it to be slower, and I don't want to have to "get used to it". I also heard that it can cause a "blur effect", with fast moving scenes. Does the blur effect show with 8ms?

dont worry about it

it is barely noticable and the screen only blurrs if ur stupid and try to play like say burnout in 1080i (dont use interlaced for fast moving games use progressive)

I have a 60'' sony sxrd 1080p set, with a 2.5ms response time. Well for the most part you couldn't tell the diff from my old crt based 47'' hdtv. I just got this tv, and I have played guitar hero on my old set. I have gotten good, and when I first played this game on my new set I could tell from the lag at 2.5ms. I was just missing notes, luckly my tv has game mode, and you can adjust for lag ingame. Im sure for most games this 8ms will be fine, but for games where timing is key you may have issues.

8ms should be fine. I have a Vizio 32" LCD, and it works great. As for those saying "you might see slow down and timing issues". I admit I don't get it. The Xbox 360 will send the signal and it will be the TVs job to keep up . If it does not you will see ghosting, and not slow down. Also Guitar Hero works fine for me, and timing is no issue. No game has shown ghosting at all, and my manual shows 12ms or 8ms (I am sure it depends on the screen used).

Go for it and don't look back.

Does response time cause actual slowdown in-game or is it just a delay from when you press a button to movement on-screen?

LUK3isH3RE

Neither. The worst that would happen is ghosting. The TV has no affect on the systems performance either via slowdown or delay.

Some have posted slowdown and delays, but this cannot TECHNICALLY happen.

FYI....Ghosting will show up as a slight smear on the screen; however, most LCD TVs have overcome this. I have a cheap Vizio and it works great for my Xbox 360. If you are concerned puchase the TV from a store with a good return policy and take it back if not satisfied. However, amost any HD-LCD will look great when it goes up against an SD-Tube.

Happy Gaming.

8 ms is good for an hdtv.  its not that great for a computer monitor, so thats where the confusion is.
