First, it does come with a one year warranty right?, and second, im buying it off my friend so how would i transfer a new warranty that i purchase on to it?, will there be any problems?, Third, if it does break under warranty, when i return it to the store to get a new one, will they just need the serial number on the back of the xbox?

Thanks.

I don't know if you can transfer the warranty really - you may want to call and try to buy the extended warranty from MS as they seem to be willing to sell those even under unusual circumstances.

When it breaks, you most likely won't be returning it to the store under warranty. Microsoft will want you to ship the Xbox out to them. They send you the shipping box, and depending on the problem, I hear the whole process takes about two to three weeks.

Make sure that the seller gives you all the receipts and warranty paperwork

Unless "his" name appears on the warranty you shouldn't have a problem,as long as you have the paperwork

Are you talking about the manufacturers warranty or a store bought? About warranty claims, you'll need to get your friend to call xbox support and authorize transfer of the registration to your name. The manufacturers warranty will then apply to you but you have to send the system to MS for any repairs which they will pay for. If you bought some kind of worthless store warranty then look out and read the fine print, it may not kick in until after your 1 year standard warranty runs out.
