Are these games multiplayer oriented with just a short shallow single player campaign thrown in?:

Rainbow Six Vegas 1/2

Advanced Warfighter 1/2

Call of Duty 4

Battlefield Bad Company

Halo 3

If I am not going to be playing multiplayer at all, are these worth $60?

How do the campaign modes of these games compare wtih Gears fo War?

When I used to play Battlefield 2, there used to be bots to play with :( Are there bots in Bad Company too?

Most of the games you mentioned can be bought new for less than $60. However, they are multiplayer oriented and you should not pay full price if you just want a single player experience.

COD4 has a short but very emotional single player. RSV 1/2 and GRAW 1/2 have the typical army vs. terrorist theme just like COD4 but they are slower paced and much more tactical. All these games have excellent multiplayer. However, only get one from each franchise because the sequels are pretty much the same as the originals.

Overall, I would say Gears of War is a few hours longer than COD4, but shorter than RSV and GRAW because it requires less precision and fewer tactics.

I've tried Halo 3 and I liked it but I don't know much about the multiplayer aspect.

I don't thinkg B:BC has bots. You will need to have XBL Gold and a high speed internet connection to play multiplayer.

right. While these games ahve excellent multiplayers, their single player campaigns are not worth $60 eh?

What exactly are tactical games? Like whats different in them? Do they get boring?

Tactical is exactly what it sounds like, you're not just running around. You pretty much just listed all multiplayer focused games but I mean they have decent campaigns too.

The reason I wont play multiplayer is becuz I live in the middle east and most of the gamers are elsewhere which makes me get high ping times and anyways the online folk are really good players and they get me frustrated. lol

arent tehre any good single player games apart from Bioshock?

Hmm a gamer from the middle east, I haven't spoken to too many of those.

Well, if you like RPG's you could get Oblivion or something.. if you want shooters you should get a game with at least bot matches.

Quake Wars is multiplayer focused but has matches against the bots in Instant Action mode.. there are probably a few others like that as wel.

Orange Box could do you well as it has Half Life 2 and the 2 campaign expansions as well as Portal, but they might not interest you or you may have already played them. :P

Yeah they are all multiplayer game IMO....they dont make games that are really long anymore. Unless they are RPG type games. The games you should be trying to play are. Bioshock, Mass Effect (RPG), Assassins Creed, GTA4 (some multiplayer), or Condemned Bloodshot 2.

Those are games that should be able to satisfy you.

yeah i was thinking about Orange Box. But i would rather play it on the PC because of the mouse and higher resolutions.

I dont know about assassins creed. I normally look at the gameplay of the games mostly. I dont care f they have a pathetic story or graphics or not as long as the game has excelent gameplay and is fun to play. Not that graphics arent improtant, just that gameplay is most improtant to me.

Well me friend has Oblivion, and I am going to wait for him to play it a bit more and then ask him about it to decide whether I want it or not.

If you want a shooter that has bots, try Shadowrun. There is no campaign, but it's also really cheap since it's been out forever.

As for single player, I would recommend Assassin's Creed. You said you want top-notch gameplay and you don't care that much about the story. AC has a decent story, but it is all about the gameplay. It'll easily last you longer than the single player campaigns of any of the games you listed.

As for your list, I would say Rainbow Six Vegas 2 will probably last you the longest in terms of the single player campaign. CoD4 was awesome, but was awfully short- I think it only took me 6 or 8 hours to complete, if that.

I didn't really care for GRAW2, but I'm the minority. Still, it's a lot like RSV2 so whether you choose RSV2 or GRAW2, if you get one, skip the other.

Battlefield Bad Company isn't out yet but I think it's safe to say that will be more multiplayer focused. I haven't heard anything about bots and I wouldn't hold my breath.

Halo3 has a nice, meaty campaign- for a shooter. Of course there are plenty of Halo haters out there, but playing the campaign solo on Heroic difficulty will give you your money's worth.

If you liked Gears, you'll probably like any of the games on your list. They all have similar campaign lengths.

Halo 3 and GRAW2 have had decent price drops, but RSV2 and CoD4 are still almost full price. If used games are readily available where you are, that will help a lot.

Whatever you end up buying, I hope you enjoy!

well now adays many 360 games lack offline multiplayer so unless your paying 50 a year for l ive all those games have single player dead rising is a good one

saints row gta iv the god father all single player oriented games ,

cod is a good one fps

halo 3 is ok but do not recommend it wait for timesplitters 4 that game will blow any fpsaway

if they do not scrap offline multiplayer that is

they have bots , challenges etc so ya pretty much its equal , the best fps youll find on last gen is timesplitters and 4 hopefully does the same
