Hey guys i'm pretty new to Xbox, i never owned one. I'm pretty interested in the Xbox 360 and i'm thinking of getting it for my birthday soon. So i have a few questions, Is it wise to buy a used Xbox 360, because of it getting a higher chance of the *ring of death*.? Is the internet free on it, if not do you have to pay every month for it? Whats the difference between the Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Live Silver? Is playing online free? I just want to be sure about everything, sorry if it sounds like dumb questions, i'm totally clueless...

Welcome, first let me start by saying that you're better getting a new one even if it is the 360 arcade that doesn't come with hdd, also there's the warranty thing, if you get the rrod and call microsoft sometimes they don't give you the warranty because you're not the original owner

xbox live is free (xbox live silver) you can download demos view videos or update, but can't play online

xbox live gold is $50 a year , you can do the same as silver but you can play online and download demos a week or two first

and again welcome!!!

im sure the 60gig xbox will help lower the chances of red rings with the smaller chips. xbox live silver(free, but u get 1 month free trial) is basically just a gamercard, friends, chat and u can access the marketplace(including downloading). xbox live gold u can actually play online along with everything in silver. at stores Gold is 50 dollars for 13 months but amazon has em for like 45 or u can get 3 months or 1 month subscriptions.

there are 3 versions

arcade (no HDD) cheaper

pro (20 or 60 gb )

elite (120gb)

the reason I said that was because the arcade is cheaper and without a hard drive and still is better than a used or refurbished console

yes, I personally recommend the pro 60 gb $350 because it's the most complete system and not as expensive as the elite, the arcade lacks the hdd so you will endup going crazy using live with it, because you will be limited in what you can download with the small memory card that comes with the arcade

and sorry but the x360 doesn't have an internet browser

I would definatly get a new one, if the funds permit, that was you should have no problem with the Rings of Death, granted if you keep the thing well ventilated it shouldn't be a problem anyway.

And i'd also recommend one with a HDD, the Premium or the Elite, if you are going Live with it, that way space won't be too much of an issue, Also the HDD to buy on there own are silly money, so that kinda throws the Arcade version out of the window.

Listen to Hrah,

He knows what hes talking about.

You chose a really good time to get an Xbox 360.

Last week the price for the Xbox 360 Pro dropped 50 bucks, so you're in luck. The Pro is defintely the best buy out of the 3.

best of luck in your gaming ventures!
