I thought Gamespot had given up awarding perfect scores a looooong time ago. I agree that GTA IV is a great game, but it has flaws; the Gamespot critic who reviewed the game even pointed out in the first paragraph of his review that the game is not without flaws. He awarded a 10 anyway. How can a game that is not truly flawless receive a perfect score?

A 10 just shows the game is supreme

GTA IV no where near deserved a 10 though

Does anyone read the review guidelines? A 10 on Gamespot means "prime," not "perfect."

The reason this game got a 10 is because of the leaps and bounds it took in the gaming industry. Have you EVER in your life seen a game give this much detail and emphasis on everything? It has it's flaws, but there's so much more that this game offers and it's soo ahead of everything else that it deserves a 10.

Does anyone read the review guidelines? A 10 on Gamespot means "prime," not "perfect."MAILER_DAEMON

But the game isnt prime.

How can a game be prime when I will be driving down the road, then the road disappears and it looks like I am driving on water, or some type of blue carpet, then 10 seconds later it fixes itself? The glitching ALONE makes the game not prime. Plus I can only play this game for an hour at a time, WHY? because I dont get HOOKED by playing it. A prime game would hook you into playing for hours on end.

Hmm...lets see what game is more "prime" COD4 or GTAIV, can someone make that a poll? I would like to see those results.

So many people do not understand...
A 10/10 does not mean the game is without flaws, it means the game is amazing and raises the bar higher in every way.

1. Gameplay is good, the fighting and shooting can be annoying, but yes it is good.

2. Not sure what game you are playing, plenty of glitches and I am only 52% through the game

3. Story is amazing

4 Main character is fine, yes in depth if you want

5. Graphics remind me of playstation 2 in some cases. Have you been to the strip club and looked at the square pixels the girls are made out of?

COD4 sucks donkey nuts. There is a poll that pits Halo 3 against GTA4. It is around 77%-23% in favor of GTA4 as of about 10 minutes ago. Of course, Halo 3 sucks, too. Bioshock and Half-Life 2/Portal blow them both out an @ss's @ass.

This conversation is pointless GTA IV is a great game so what if it got a 10 from Gamespot. And people are complaining how other good games like Halo 3 and COD 4 are better but did not get a 10. Well they both got a 9.5 so what is really the difference between a 10 and a 9.5 in my opinion I do not see a big difference. In my view I thought all those games deserved a 10 it is a matter of each person's opinion. Gamespot thought GTA IV deserved a 10 so why does it matter if you did not reviews neither validate or destroy a games value. Ultimately, it is up to the player I only see reviews as a helpful source to help someone make a quality purchase.

The new gamespot rating system is like this; 9.0, 9.5, 10.0 meaning that they cant give a 9.6 or 9.7 plus 10.0 = prime, this used to be perfect but in the new gamespot system more games can get a 10 since its prime now.

Your 360 has disc reading problems, dont blame it on GTA4. Others can play GTA4 for hours in a row (like me) but I dont like playing CoD4. But I know its a great game, just not my kind of game. GTA4 isnt your kind of game, you shouldnt have bought it, especially with your 360 that is starting to have problems.

As I'm sure others before me have pointed out, a 10 is not a perfect score. It's the highest score that can be awarded. There is a difference. NO GAME will ever be perfect because nothing is perfect. However a game CAN be given the highest honour awarded in a reviewing situation. In the case of Gamespot that is a 10.

People really need to grasp concept. I actually don't why some people don't get this. The difference is subtle but not beyond understanding to those willing.

PS: What does it matter in the end. Regardless of how a strange feels about a food, movie, sport, (or in this case) game, you are going to have your own opinions. You may not agree or understand someone else's conflicting opinion but it isn't going to change your own. If you don't agree with the score, who cares. Pick the hill you want to die on. A video game review shouldn't be that hill.

There are plenty of flaws in this game. It is nowhere close to perfect. The cover system and combat can be very frustrating at times.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this game, and have logged tens of hours already. There are just some problems, and to me, it just doesn't deserve a 10.

Hy i have cod4 and gta4 and am able to say i love them both but i just think that cod4 has had a lot less time put into it than gta, i think it is easy to accept a couple of flaws in a game as grand as gta, Grand Theft Auto did deserve a ten because it is a must buy and is better than any other in its genre, i wouldnt have this game any other way. cod4 also has its flaws like The war room, try playing that level on veteran it is infuriating (not that i didnt do it) but i think cod4 has its problems too with level design and such. (sorry for my bad punctuation.)
