A Question about LIVE (this may come off as noobish)

I am curious to know, once you have your Xbox 360 connected to Xbox Live, is it possible to play original Xbox games like Halo 2 online? Or are they two separate servers or whatnot?

As long as you have the hard drive to download compatibility updates, original Xbox games that support Live will also run on the 360.
