I never thought I would do this, ask a question on a game and if I should consider getting it, seems so...silly. But anyway, I've been researching Rare games and I'm curious about this Perfect Dark Zero. It seems to have gotten mixed responses from reviewers and games alike, some love it, some hate it.
I'm not all that fond of FPS games, I've played many of them but still haven't found one that I enjoy and with this game being an FPS game, I'm uncertain on if I should go for it. I'm not in the mood for a generic FPS game like so many FPS games are, I'm looking for an FPS game that I can really enjoy and not be falling asleep from boredom to.

So is this game worth getting or should I just pass it by and keep hoping for an FPS game that I'll enjoy and not doze off to? Also the question is extended a little to an old original X-Box game, Grabbed By The Ghoulies, is it worth getting? I've done all my research on both games and they sound appealing, but I'm uncertain on if I should. Especially with my dislike of FPS games. Only Oblivion, MorrowWind and Fallout 3 have ended up becoming favourites because of their RPG elements, without them I would have never bothered getting them.

And that's my question. Well questions. Lots of research done and unsure if they're really worth going for. Oh and I've never played the N64 Perfect Dark, I was curious but the N64 had began to die out and games were hard to find, I don't have my N64 anymore.

I'd say that PD:Zero is a james bond look-like cheesy shooter, not exactly a great fps. The single player isn't bad though, it's decent. Multiplayer is probably most likely dead by now also. Grabbed by Ghoulies is your typical find the clues/puzzle game, I thought it was more leaned towards a kids game with no replay value. Some people have different tastes though and if that's what you're interested in why not. I'd wait for a new FPS though to be honest, you probably won't regret it.

Well multiplayer isn't a concern of mine, I can't get my 360 online due to not having found a good router that I can afford and which can manage the 360 connection jack. So no multiplayer isn't a loss, couldn't care less for it.
I'm more curious on the single player and if it's got enough replay value and if it's enjoyable enough. I've seen copies of both games for under £10 each, which isn't bad, but I'm worried that they might not be replayable after the first run through. I'm tired of games having so little replay value anymore, especially when on a tight budget and buying a new game takes months of research and planning.

Thanks for the info. I'm still uncertain, but more info is always welcome and opinions on either. The prices for them are good, I'm just having doubts.

(Perfect Dark) I'd say get it. The story is good, not the best but better than avarage. The learning curve is a little high though as it's not just "Goto Point A, kill X amount of people or reachlandmark Y, continue to Point B, rinse, repeat". It has a lot of spy gagets that are a mix of fun and bothersome. There are a lot of stealth elements to it.

For the price, you will get your money's worth.

Not sure about GbtG, though.

Depending on how well the planning goes, I sometimes have up to £30 for a game, less if I have other concerns. I've calculated that I might have about £15 or £20 to myself once the bills are paid on Tuesday, I'm already looking into getting a battery charger for my Wii, just looking into a good one to go for that's at a good, low price, and I'm looking for one or two cheap games.

If you mean Rare games, i've played and completed Goldeneye on the N64 a decade ago, good game for it's time. I'm currently playing Viva Pinata, the first one, and Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts And Bolts, both of which I'm enjoying a lot. I tried Kameo, it was alright, never got to play the older B-K games, always wanted to.
At 30 I'm cautious about games since I don't find many modern games to quite catch my interest, maybe I've gotten old or I've played so many games that more modern games tend to feel far too familiar. I don't mind violent games, I just try to find more to the 360 than yet another FPS/Gears of War kind of game while looking for an FPS game that I enjoyed as much as Goldeneye and Doom. So far no luck.

If I were to list all the games I've played since 1984, there would be a very big list.

Cheapest prices I've seen for PDZ in Amazon UK is - New: £5.68+£1.94 postage and packing. Used: £4.00+£1.94 p&p. Not too bad.

I'd say if you want a non-generic FPS, then go and buy Bioshock. There are some rpg-esque elements to it (in the way you develop your character), it plays like a dream, and has fantastic graphics and story. It'll probably cost you about ten quid preowned too, so it's a bargain!

I've played and completed Bioshock, the game bored me to tears. I liked the story and the features, the graphics were nice, but the game itself beyond the features and story felt very generic, very dull. I was glad to finish it since I could return it to the person who loaned it to me, the person asked me to play it.

The story in PDZ is awful, but I would get the game, it's worth it IMO.

As for single player, there's 4 difficulties you can do and multiple paths in most missions. There's also bots in the multiplayer modes and you can play them all by yourself.

Hmm, much like Goldeneye's multiplayer had been like then by the sounds of things. I'm put off with online multi player due to kids who haven't been raised to be respectful and stable enough to not go screaming into a mic and being racist.

Well the collector's edition is at a low price, I might consider getting it tomorrow, thanks. That's another game added to the list of possible buys.
