I recently recieved the RroD on my 360 I thought hey this isn't a problem I'll just check the cord connections and it will be fine. the cords were fine. I then proceeded with the towel method and that worked two days. I thought well I'll just contact Microsoft and get it repaired, a little wait but no problem. But.......my warranty expired. I have a first generation system and the extent of my warranty is gone. So now I have a system that I must use the towel method to get to work. I don't have the money either to get a new one.

How did your warranty expire? All XBox 360s have an RRoD warranty of 3 years. The 360 hasn't even been out for 3 years.

Even if you bought a launch 360, I believe those were manufactured in Aug or Sept of '05. Which means your 3 year warranty would be up Aug or Sept of '08. I'd call MS just to make sure.

your 360 should still be insured until November 2008 buddy. it was 3 red rings right? if it was then i'd give them another call and if they still refuse ask for their supervisor.

Mine was a first gen console and they repaired it for me, something is wrong with your case, I would call back and ask for a supervisor this time

The same thing happened to me, the 3 year warranty is only for the red rings of death, if you didnt have those they won't fix it unless its under one year old.

If you had the 3 rings of death, than whoever you talked to is a moron.

If you don't have the rings just lie and say you do, thats what I did. And they fixed it. A xbox should not break right after the one year mark its ****ed up.

This is why I won't buy a 360, no matter how many good games they come out for it. If the hardware doesn't work, then its not worth shelling out the money. A three year warranty on RRoD isn't going to help with all the other problems plaguing this system. Its too bad with Lost Odyssey, Mass Effect, and a lot of other good games coming out for this system. I'd love to get one, but not until they work out this stuff.

Well um as much as you like to think I am new to gamespot, I am not. I have been on gamespot since the playstation 1 came out. I just never made an account, parents wouldn't let me or something like that. But if you meant new to forums, then yes I am
