A Soul Calibur 4 rant :(

Right i need to get this out to the peeps.

I love soul calibur , the series and i was eagerly awaiting the new game, SC4. Ive been playing it since it came out aug 1st and i think im quite a good player at it. Online i am level 18 at the moment with 54 wins , 27 ish losses, 10 of those losses coming today. I was frustrated , badly , felt like punching the tv or something, but resisted.

Now the reason i lost 10 games today.

I got on standard ranked on SC4 to be greeted with a level 45-46 i think it was, he had very few losses, and a lot of wins. So i was hoping for a good decent fight. I was proved horribly wrong. The player i faced had a lot of created characters, when i looked at the style, ALL sophitia. i picked my fav char nightmare, and we went in, he used 3 different moves, only 3 and somehow i lost 3 matches, now these 3 moves could be done by anyone, they were standard Y+Y and back-down X But the speed and power of these moves is horribly unbalanced, leaving me and poor nightmare to guard and try and find an opening, but it was severely difficult. Gave him a bad review, under lacking skill, i do that alot with cheap people. Now kinda aiming this point at Xbox live, When i avoid a player i do not wish to get into anither match with him, yet the next 5 times or so, the same sophitia user joined, i gave in and fought the player again, only for him to do a move for easy ring out. couldent stand it anymore, the morning continued with an array of people, who used sophitia, and who all did the same thing, Is there some guide that people are looking up for easy wins by cheap characters (Well sophitia is good but she can be used cheaply)

Sorry this post is going on long, I want to see your input who do you think is cheap, should be nerfed damage wise, and whos just plain nasty :P

Other characters id have to say are bad and can be used to play cheap tricks would be misturugi and maybe astaroth oh and possibly cervantes oh oh and lizardman

I hate it when people say this, its the most pointless thing to post.

If a game is unbalanced then its the fault of the developers. People are always going to to pick a character/move/weapon that gives them an advantage as people like to win. Whether its by true skill or just cheapness depends on the user. I havent played this game online myself (played the demo, not my cup of tea) but either the TC is a whiny loser :P or the playtesting process was not rigorous enough to weed out these overpowered moves. Online games should always have a live beta so things like that can be ironed out before release, then winning would be based on skill and nothing else.

A good player would learn to adapt and punish those who only use 1-3 moves.

Every character can be cheap, theres no getting around it.

But whats with you saying Mitsurugi and Lizardman are cheap? Mitsurugi is much better compared to old games and I've never had a cheap match with lizardman

Okay lemme freshen things out by replying to peeps.

Someone said there about that i should get the bad review, maybe i should, but i only gave him that so i would not come across him again and his cheap sophitia ways :P

Someone there said about guard impacting , Yea worked a few times, if you can time it right with the slight lag delay, risky if you try one cause he might just snap half your health off with a few hits.

I get too much bad rep from winning fairly, whats to stop me giving him bad rep from losing unfairly. Anyway i think peeps lost the point of this topic, Sophitia has gotten a little to cheap this time round.

Oh another reply someone said mitsu aint cheap. My response : Ah yeh i have seen some decent players on mitsu, some rely on his low moves or simply ring you out, My expierience with players usiong him has led me to believe he his cheap in circumstances.

However i stand by lizardman can be undoubtfully cheap(not overpowered) in the right, or probably wrong hands : /

My strategy for Nightmare/siegfried is to just do the usual blocks and guard impacts and instead of immediately attacking when they are vulnerable just do a kick attack, its nightmares fastest move and it stuns the cheap people long enough to throw in a combo and show them how to take down an entire health bar in one go!

The cheap people are hard to beat. By cheap people I mean those that know one to three combos and just mash the kick or punch button rather than trying to use strategy witht their combos to take me down. I'm not one of those people that suck so much at the game that they can't beat the cheap people. I'm not horrible but I'm not amazing. The guy I always use is the Apprentice. I can perform his combos the best. My second favorite would be Nightmare. I'm able to beat cheap people some of the time. However, when they use extremely fast characters, like Amy, or Kilik with his long range, it's much harder.

I played the game for like a week straight after it came out. Loved it as I previously owned the second one on the original xbox. I occasionally go back to the game to play some arcade or story, but I stay away from online because I just get infruiated most of the time. A small amount of the time that I am playing online I will meet people that actually play the game as they should.

i have not got much skill at sc4, i just bash the button to they or i die. but i hate it when people play as the same carater over and over agian

I read your post yesterday and figured I was lucky as I never encountered any Sophitia cheap player. Right after reading your post I decided I could play a few rounds... and there he was, the Sophitia cheap player!

I tried to reason him by saying that he was totally not getting " the essence of the game" etc. All he said was "I'm just showing true skills dude."

In the end, I ended up beating him, but at what price? I've ended up being frustrated, mad and not enjoying the next games as much...

I've done like you, gave him bad review and blocked him. So yeah, let's block those "Players" that are not happy enough to ruin the gameplay but are also talking like they are SC4 gods...

Yeah we can beat them... but they still ruin the meaning of SC4.

Sophita and kilik ruined that game

and the reason i play it, i have 146 wins and 20 losses, all of those from kilik and sophita.

its bull and everyone knows it, theres no way to win against sophita playing as any other character than sigfried nightmare and kilik, total bull. BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK, all she does. than when you start a combo, she attacks, turtle strategies blow.

I remember when games were only about fun, not about a bunch of level 101s killing level 7s (me) mercilessly for no other reason than to hurl abuse down the headset.
