well i think what you did was the right thing if CS was being a total ****(expletive of your choice HERE) and you spent good money have the BBB look into it
i dont know and i am not pointing fingers but IFyou are telling the truth then you are within your right entirely and microsoft should unbann or replace your xbox.
but IFyou are not telling the truth then they can show proof and you will be dismissed and will make a total ****(expletive here) of yourself i sincerely hope it is what i said in line 2 and microsoft is just being stupid good luck with your fight
the way I see it I am out $498 right now. $399 for the original purchase of the system and $99 for the repair service.well i think what you did was the right thing if CS was being a total ****(expletive of your choice HERE) and you spent good money have the BBB look into it

I have owned the system since 2007 when I picked it up off of the shelve at Best Buy. the only time the system has ever been touched was by Microsoft when I sent it in for service. When I ask for an explanation all they say is that they cannot talk about it. I did have one helpful CS agent so far, I was on the phone with him for almost 2 hours. e backtracked all communication from XBox to me, he could find no records of my console being banned aside from it telling me and not working. Best we could tell is someone had a typo when keying in a real ban or someone at the service center decided to F with someone. That someone turned out to be me. I will not just let this go, in my complaint to the BBB my acceptable resolution was very fair, all I am asking for is for Microsoft to make their mistake right. But instead I have been getting the full run around at every turn from them. -Johnso when you asked them what they banned you for... what did they say?
maybe you made an illegal modification to your xbox and they saw that when they opened it.

The BBB:lol:. I'd be suprised if they can get you your xbox back. They're a joke. Whats not a joke is that your xbox is being banned for something that you have not done. I'm with you about how all this is BS. Unfortunately, I can't give you any tips, workarounds, etc but only wish you the best of luck and hopefully you get your Xbox unbanned. Keep us posted because one day i might be the one sending in my xbox.
True, the BBB cannot do a lot, but hopefully it will be enough. I have my XBox back from service, they did fix my 3 red rings, but I cannot get onto XBox Live. -JohnThe BBB:lol:. Wow that sucks ass dude.Sounds like you have done all the right things though so I would continue on the path you are on.As hard as it would be to keep your cool I suggest keeping your temper in check and talk to them sensibly and eventually you will find someone who will help you.Keep persevering because usually the squeaky wheel gets the oil.;)
wait so when people break the TOS on live they ban the console not the gamertag?xfactor19990That is another step in their "process" that seems to be missing from my situation. They do put a ban on the gamertag as well. But my gamertag is perfectly fine, it is just my console that is banned. The CS agents could not explain that one either. [QUOTE="lamprey263"]I can only think 2 possible things happened... 1) you modded your Xbox 360 and they noticed when you sent it in 2) they didn't send you the same Xbox 360 back (this happens BTW), sometimes they take your Xbox 360 that doesn't work and give you a recently repaired one instead, check the console serial number to be sure 1) I have never modded or attempted to mod my XBox, I have owned the system since new. The only time the system has ever been out of my control was when I sent it into service with Microsoft. 2) Double checked for that one two. All the serial numbers match up to the one I sent in.
Thanks. I am trying to be. The people I reach on the phone are not responsible, but when I did have a good CS helping me out, he was reading me the SOP that was popping up on the screen which basically reads, End call as soon as possible and do not help banned customer. So, I'm basically fighting an uphill battle. -JohnWow that sucks ass dude.Sounds like you have done all the right things though so I would continue on the path you are on.As hard as it would be to keep your cool I suggest keeping your temper in check and talk to them sensibly and eventually you will find someone who will help you.Keep persevering because usually the squeaky wheel gets the oil.;)

I feel bad for you man, I know what it's like to be on the end of the wrong decision, in July 2009 I sent my xbox in due to the disc tray not reading discs correctly, I got a replacement for my console and I was told that I had a 1 year extension on my warranty, they even told me they had updated my product & repair logs to show this, in April 2010 I contacted xbox customer support to ask for any solutions or possibility of a replacement as some of my discs were not being read and the others were taking 2-3 minutes to be read, when discussing a replacement I was told that I only received a 3 month extension on my warranty (which was absolutely wrong) I mentioned about the Product and repair log and they said it was only 3 months... after another hour I just given up, I just couldn't be bothered and now I use my brothers.... MS CS are absolute douchebags.mazz211
So the first CS told you wrong, it is only a 90 day extension. That's why I always double check anything like a week later to make sure it's what it's supposed to be.

I would've been fine if they had said it only 90 days in the first place, but since I was guaranteed that it would be a year extension then that's what I went by, I feel sorry for people like the OP because chance's are that they don't have somebody in the same house that they can share their xbox with or anything and other people do get the xbox as a present and cannot get one unless it is a special occasion (Birthday, Christmas) and cannot afford to get it repaired (which was also what happened with me, but I don't mind sharing anyway so wasn't worth the money) Anyway JG, hope you get unbanned soon mate, if you're paying for a service then something like this happening when the product has returned is in-excusable.Bro, do NOT let MS **** you over. do not stop pestering them untill you get your Xbox un-banned.i got screwed out of a year of live because of crappy CS.
KEEP ON FIGHTING.
If you are telling the truth, and I believe you, just keep bothering MS and then send your story, BBB complaint, and everything you've received from MS regarding the ban in an email to sites like Kotaku, TeamXbox, to their press/news department which you can usually find under "contact" tabs on their respective pages.
If you can get any attention from a major gaming site for this, then I bet MS will fix this in a heart beat
But also, if you're gamertag isn't banned, then couldn't you recover your achievements and stuff on a new 360? I mean, i know you shouldn't have to do that, but the Xbox is a terrific platform just with horrible CS. If you gamertag isn't banned (try recovering it on a friend's 360) then get another console, copy your saves to a USB drive and put them on a new 360. If you're still within the Best Buy Warranty I'd say just turn it in to them and get a new one and recover your gamertag, if you can't recover it start over with a new one I suppose.
BB offers 4 year warranties, if you have one of those that may work out for you, they are known to swap things on warranty for the loosest of reasons. Worse case you lie and tell them its broken
Also, when you do (and if) exchange it at BB, you will have to spend probably another $50 or so on another 2-4 year warranty, but its worth it when you can just swap
Same thing happened to me on a warranty claim, received a refurb back and it was banned. email support instead of calling them. http://support.xbox.com/en-us/pages/email-us.aspx
People tend to do what's right when it is in writing. Be sure to provide dates, confirmation codes, serial numbers and any other info you have.

the BBB is nothing. Watched a thing where they showed that places can pay them off for a good grade. They had a business owner who had a c- call up the BBB and pay over the phone and they gaver her an A automatically. I hope you get your stuff figured out soon.
Did you have an Xbox live account?
If so you can sue them given that you paid for something they are not giving you based on nothing.
My local news station has a segment where they deal with consumer complaints in which the companies responsible usually fix the problem. Maybe one of your local stations has something similar?

I do, it is part of my reasoning against Microsoft, I am a current customer for a product and a service, my Gold auto renews in November. Wost part is I use my XBox to mostly keep in touch with family. I'm in Texas, my sister and Brother in law are in New York and my Parents live in Florida. My wife and I get on with them and play Forza , Left 4 Dead etc. and that is how we keep in touch.Did you have an Xbox live account?

That will be my next step, the repair center is actually local to me, so it will make the story more likely to be picked up. Microsoft just sent me a XBox Customer Report survey via email, I have until the 11th to fill it out, so that means they have until the 11th to fix my issue or their numbers will take a hit. -johnMy local news station has a segment where they deal with consumer complaints in which the companies responsible usually fix the problem. My Better Business Bureau complaint went to Microsoft this morning and low and behold I now have a scheduled phone call with their tier 3 support help for tomorrow evening after work. Hopefully all will be taken care of tomorrow. -JohnJGroove
That is good to hear dude. Also, thanks for not going postal on this forum. A lot of people come to these forums and have issues, and while it is justifiable that they are upset about the various things that cause them to make topics about issues with any video game related service, you've done so in a both informative and cool headed manner. It's just nice to see on the internetz.
Don't give up, the Xbox 360 is a fantastic console, I'd hate to see their errors in customer service and various mistakes push a gamer away from a platform that has so much to offer.

good luck with that one. sueing is not quite as easy as many would think it is and winning is even tougher when your sueing a company. Atleast the TC got 4 years out of the console. I got 5 months out of an elite. Nice of you to share but most people will continue to buy their console and online service. I for one will not be doing either.
Not so, more people have been done wrong than people care to admit. Most are called trolls or fanboys. I'll just say after my exp. I'm staying very far away from any console they put out next gen or any gen for that matter.I know this is kind of a freak occurence but this is kind of scaring me away from Microsoft for the next generation.

New update, I just got off of the phone with Microsoft corporate. I now have a new case number and a direct call back to this service guys desk. As it turns out, all of the other "Tier 3" statuses were fake and made up to get me off of the phone. It was my BBB report that finally got me to the correct people. I should hear back Monday after he talks with the Live team to see what if any reasons they have for banning my serial number. I am very disappointed with the standard service I received, since I now know that I was constantly lied to. But I finally have their attention and a direct number. As always, I will add updates as more come about. -JohnJGroove
Good to see you are getting somewhere although it is a bit of a worry how much BS you have had to endure to get to this stage...not good at all.Hope it turns out well and I am sure it will.
