I get internet from 3 houses away, and considering they aren't in a close proximity, it works.

Just get it.

Yeah make sure your router has a password so no one else will steal your bandwidth. I use a password on mine sometimes, unless I need to deactivate it for my DS WiFi.

to really get a good connection get a wireless 'a' compatible router, not many people seem to know this but the 360 adapter is wireless a compatable and that will give the besat connection, i use the wirless g mode though and its still works fine through floors and walls.

I think a lot of routers these days (especially wireless) let you choose a or g. It also depends on what kind of wireless network card you have. If it can't run one or the other you're stuck with one choice.

only wireless routers let you choose the band, most routers are wireless b+g, wireless a is a bit more expensive but is better because it cuts interferance from the b and g band that things like micorwaves and fridges all cause slight interferance with. Unless you look for it your dont usually get wireless a or a+g as standard.
