So I am going to buy an elite, since I kept getting defective refurbished consoles when mine broke down, and my guaranty is bust after my 3 replaced 360. I heard though that I won't be able to play my old Xbox live arcade games, and that the old hard drive and information is not compatible. Is this true or just bull?

It comes with a thing to transfers your one HD to the 120 HD That and I believe if you keep using the same gametag you downloaded your stuff on, you can just sign in on that system (Elite) and get them again. But that shouldn't be needed, as you are abled to transfer memory over from on HD to another with the special tool they included.

The transfer cable does not come with the 360 elite. You must order one through Microsoft via this link. Microsofty will send you the transfer kit free and you will be able to transfer the data from your old 20 Gig hard drive to your new 120 gig hard drive.

As for not being able to play arcade games, it's like that anytime you switch your console or hard drive. The rights to own the arcade game are tied to the gamertag, console and hard drive that they were purchased on. If you change the console or hard drive you will need to be signed into Xbox Live to verify your identity anytime you wish to play an arcade game that was purchased on a previous system or hard drive. I believe you can call Xbox Support and they will ask you to create a silver account on your new Xbox, they will then refund the points to you so you can re-purchase the arcade games you have already bought. I'm not 100% certain this is true though and haven't done it myself.

Thanks man, although it seems overly complicated. I wish I could just change the hard drive and use it like that, but nothing it that easy.

I still want to repair my old one though, its only 30 bucks, it seems like a waste. I can could always have a replacement.

Also, what do you think of the HD movie drive, worth it?

Don't have an HD DVD drive... I'll sit on that purchase until the format war dies down a bit.

She's not a man - but she sure gave a wonderfully acurate and instructive answer.  :)

My apologizes, VladimirCrow. I was unaware that it didn't come with the transfer cable, didn't mean to mislead you.
