*Edits* I'll keep you guys posted on my situation as some of you seem to be interested in how long the process takes so just scroll down and check my other posts:

(Original Post)

Some of you might remember me from a few weeks back talking about how I was gonna send my xbox for repair since it has been lightly scratching my discs (Which didn't break them, but worried me). Well, anyway, I got my "repaired" console back tonight so I went to turn it on and BOOM! I was burned by the Red Rings of Death... This really sucks, I mean, I'd rather my system scratch my games than not work at all. Apparently Microsoft gave me a "refurbished" system (which, I would assume means they just flipped me the proverbial middle finger).

(/Original Post)

The first console's repair took 4 weeks total (to get there any back). Here's hoping this one is shorter.

Yeah. I have a lot of fun with my 360 too... I'm thinking that many of the games I play are multiplatform (though some aren't) but maybe if a Playstation is pretty much guaranteed not to break, I'll sell my games and console and get a PS3 (though I'd have to have to spend all that money). Oh well. I guess I'm gonna call Microsoft and see what they say.

Man are you sure you wanna do that? Then you'll have to miss out on Halo 3 and Gears of War, two insanely good games.

wow the 360 must me made out of paper or something. If i was ms I would be a shame for making such a crappy console. I mean the games are great and all. I do love my 360, but it does have big problems.

Brief update on my situation, guys:

I called Tech support again this time got one of those people with those names you don't want to try to spell or say. She said since this is second repair that I should send the power brick in with my console.

I had a hard time convincing her that the console was Dead on Arrival and she kept making sure I knew that "microsoft will refuse to repair consoles that have been tampered with." Anyway, I'm in a better mood right now since I'm believing this false sense that I'll get a newer model (why else would they ask for "the brick"), but we'll see when the time comes again.

Guess I'll have more Mario Galaxy / Trauma Center: New Blood time than I thought.

Demand to speak with a supervisor and make them give you a new console. I thought MS addressed this issue since they publically apologized for some customers having 2-6 dead systems after repeatedly receiving defective refurbs.

Why doesn't Microsoft give everyone a new system that had RROD instead of a referbish one which will get the RROD again.

My has yet to get the RROD, but it will since I got it in Feb 2006. If Microsoft gives me a referbish system, I am forgetting about Microsoft and the Xbox 360 and focusing on the other systems that are out.

Ouch, My lil brother is sending he's in for repair. hopefully it doesn't take as long as yours did. But, once he gets it back he plans on selling itand get the$400 sleek black system (not the 360). 1 household with 2 same systems... :)

That's stupid, you buy a new xbox it messes up you send it to MS then they send u a refurb, that's sneaky. They should sue them for that. They should at least provide the customer with info stating that the new system is indeed a refurb.
