ok, call me ignorant. But I'm considering trading my gamecube when I get a Wii and get a 360. Besides getting the actual acheivement, do the points do anything? are they seperate from the points that can be used to buy/download stuff?

There are achievment points for bragging rights and microsoft points, which is bought through credit card on your 360 or you can buy $20 prepaid cards at game retailers. Microsoft points is what you use to buy Xbox Live Arcade and other stuff.

Old Spice is currently sponsoring a rewards program that stats from the time you sign up until april 22 if you recieve 1500 achievment points you will recieve rewards depending on what you point total was before you signed up (0-5000, 5000-10000, 10000+) - 3 different gaming levels that all recieve different rewards (the higher you were before, the more you get).

prizes range from contra ($5 value free) to microsoft points and tee-shirts

also after this rewards program is over microsoft has said that they are gonna run with this idea so you can expect to see more reward programs in the future.

because it's only a U.S. thing and a lot of people are not from the U.S. or not currently living in the U.S.Jeff_Boldt

They announced that they would later expand the list of countries that can participate in the rewards program (of course based on how many people participated in the even only avaliable to USA). So if more people were to do it then it is a sure fire thing that it will be expanded to a much larger list of countries.
