Do you play for achievements or do you just play the game? Do you normally go back and play through a game again just to get the achievement or becasue you enjoyed the game so much? With so many games and not so much time I find myself not being able to access everything and playing a game twice is a waste of time most of the time because with my limited amount of time and so many games I want to play it seems hard to get it all done. So my question is do you try to get all the achievements, or do you play once and whatever you get, you get?

I dont care much about them, and dont understand when people obsess over getting them. Once in a while Ill go for em just cuz its a challenge or somthin to do, but most often they dont give you anything in return so intentionally buying games for achievemnts is a complete waste and a phailure to me.

If you look at my gamercard, I think it's pretty obvious that I am an "achievement whore".

I play the game, and if I get some points then cool, if not then I still played a great game.

I dont obsess about achievements, but it's great when the "pling" sound comes up and I get some gamerscore. Basicly I consider them extra missions if you will. Like in Project 8. The "5mill" combo achievement is just another goal. Altough it's more rewarding than a normal goal.

I guess you could call me an achievement whore, I really just aim to get them all. I can tell you achievements have extended the replay value and forced me to be a better gamer.

Some games are smart and give you achievement points as an incentive to ty things in the game ( like dead rising, great use of achievements) other games just make them insanely hard and cause it to die off quicker.

i foyu want achievemnt points try king Kong, an easy game for 1000 points. Only a few nights play and you're good to go. But if you really want to earn your points try the gears of war achievement "dont you die on me" you earn the achivement by reviving 100 teammates! good luck

If the achievements are of easy/medium difficulty to get, then I will try and get most of them. But if they are hard to get, I usually won't bother.

I like completing the games I have, and get maximum replay value... I don't go out buying cheap kid games trying to get an easy 1000 points like these other idiots do; it doesn't matter how high your GS is, it's about how many hard ass games you've completed, if you can get 1000 in games like COD3, Fear, Quake 4, Saints Row, then your pretty much the man... Microsoft needs to implement some benefits to getting these achievments though, showing them off isn't enough.

I get most of them that I can. I avoid the ones that take forever to get.

While I agree, I think this would lead only to more cheese-boosting and game-save swapping. You can earn them through pride, ignore them entirely or look like a fool for cheating.

I sort of have a love-hate relationship with achievements. The ones that are easy and medium, i usually get them. The hard ones, I try to get them, but if I can't, I really don't care much. The ones that really obsess me, are those that are long, or extremely unique (like those where you have to complete the whole game without dying) and I usually don't stop playing until I see the damn "achievement unlocked" pop-up. For instance, getting the "Endless Mode" achievemnt in Bejeweled 2 (where you need to complete the 280th level), it's really making me mad: I've played almost 80 hours in that mode, and I'm only in the level 170!!! Lately, it's Zuma the one that I'm playing almost non-stop: I want to finish the freaking game, but I can't complete the 9th level. But overall, I enjoy achievements, they give the game a lot of replay value :D

I play through it once without any achievments in mind.
Then i'll go back and try to get some of the easier to attain ones.
I'm not gonna dedicate myself for months at a time to get the "Seriously..." achievement on Gears of War or anything.

I've got three games and 780 gamerscore.
Not too shabby :P

I Have mixed emotions about them on one hand it gives great replay value and some goals to work towards it can also make them fun but... sometimes i get so pi$$ed off when i cannot get them it seems i have a million katan bleed outs in shadowrun or i throw strangle till i pass out ( i still dont get kills) and it seems as ive been playing for the same race for ever but w/e there are so many new games i dont really see the point in trying to get them all.

If the game is that good I'll play it twice, I always play on the hardest difficulty if I dont have time to go back and play a second time.

i find myself playing the game for achievemnents and not even realizing it. Like today in madden i was meaning to let a team score just so i could get the ball back faster and work on a achievment. It almost took a little bit away from the game. The achievements i like are the ones just for beating the game.... not for doing somthing special. It doesnt take away from the game but still gives it replay value by giving you more points for the higher level.

Achievements should be given for something special the gamer does.

I hate them, I used to go all out to get them but they seem stupid now because it is just who plays the most or bought their 360 first most of the time. And as a sports gamer I must say those achievements are way to easy and make me seem like a lazy achievement whore when I could care less.

I don't really care for achievements, since hardly any of them make me feel like I actually achieve something. The ones that are challenging, however, I will strive to get, and, if I get bored enough, I'll go through games to get the easier ones that I may have missed.
