Achievement Question, People who have 2006 Fifa World Cup

I had a question about the achievements "Qualify for the World Cup" and "Beat the Host Nation Germany", I've already gotten the "won the world cup" one I was jsut wondering how I did that and didn't qualify for it? Is it a different game mode? Also I've beat Germany before, do you have to beat them in a certain situation? Thanks for any help.
