I don't know about you guys, but who's getting kinda tired of achievements?

I've been a junkie since day 1 (bought a launch console, now have an elite), but I'm finding now that playing games on the 360 has become more of a chore.

I'm really starting to hate feeling bad when I'm unable to obtain the full 1000 points in a game. Especially in games that have ridiculous online achievements like Halo 3.

Ever since I (recently) re-discovered the wonders of Nintendo... I've taken a step back and realized... that I was actually having fun playing a game. Just like my first days as a gamer, all I cared about was beating the game, and having fun. And going back to replay just for easter eggs or unlockables was very care-free.

Now, being the points junkie I am... replaying games just for achievements gets very frustrating... fast... especially since a lot of them are ridiculously hard to obtain...

Who else feels this way?

I'm starting to think that achievement points have outweighted their welcome for me.

It doesn't bother me because I'm not that big of an achievement junkie. I am more a complete the game and have fun while doing it type as there are countless games I want to experience. Therefore, I would rather spend my limited gaming time experiecing new and fun games.

Achievements can be good because they let you explore different parts of the game. However, sometimes these are abused by putting in ones that really aren't "achievements." Like EA's NFS ProStreet achievements - two of them are only given out on a specific date.

I personally like having something to strive for while playing online. Some of them, however, are very un-needed. I do wish that CoD4 had some online achieves. I also see why they could be bad, as some people don't have xbox LIVE or don't like to play multiplayer very often, also... some games have poor multiplayer, then it really sucks. I think they should really break it up into a percentage or something though.

i love achievements, it adds a lot of replay value to a game and most of the time achievements are designed to experience most (if not all) the game has to offer.

noone told you that you have to get all the achievements in every single game ever released, its just something that you can do and if you do manage to complete a challenging feat in a game at least you got something to show for it

I could careless about achievements it doesn't really bother me. I only have like 2500 points although i got in for christmas. That in my opinion is enough i very rarely go looking for achievements. If it's something fun or interesting i'd try it but if it's just frustrating and boring no thank you.

I think achievements set a good bar to shoot for and can be fun to get, but I never really go out of my way to get ones that I can't get easily (like find all the orbs and crap like that).

Achievements are fun to get, though. I feel good after getting 25 Gamerpoints for using a lot of med packs in Condemned 2: Bloodshot... or getting 50gamerpoints for beating EDF 2017 in Easy Mode...

Come on, it's just a little treat...that's all.

Okay, let me get this strait. You are doing somthing to have fun and you think that it is a choir? Why, because you HAVE to have 1000/1000 gamer points per game? Just don't get them all. I personally like achivements and think they should expand on them with the next Xbox. I only have all of them in CoD 4, and that is fine with me. So yea I like them, they are not a big deal. Just somthing extra.

no, actually good...well if you don't like something, then just don't do it...common sense right...i really like achievements and the lil number on my score...it's like being rewarded for having fun...yeah there are some online or super hard ones, but it's ok...most of them can be unlocked just playing solo...i have 4999 pts and around 5 months with my xbox and im so close to get the 1000 pts with assassins creed, but that honor will be for GTA IV...

I don't really care about achievements nor will I aim for them and even if I did care for them, I don't have the time to try to get them anyways. Anyways, I have about 2xxx out of a possible 16xxx. Don't feel bad and don't feel like you have to have them.

TC, looking at your gamercard, I believe you have no right to complain. You need to experience more ridiculous achieves other than halo 3 which can be done with people that are willing to cooperate.Nocturnal15

So... this is my third gamer-tag.

I've had 3 360's. I had about 14,000 points on my first gamertag (13,945), had 2450 on my second gamertag.

I'm pretty sure that puts my achievement score up with yours. Oh yeah, I did get the GeoW 10,000 kill achievement so don't tell me I need to experience more ridiculous achievements.

I like achievements, but I don't take them too seriously. It's a nice feeling to get one after you accomplish something, but I don't usually go out of my way to collect them.

However, I do miss them when I'm playing other platforms.

Achievements are not responsible for obsessive behaviour. Obsessive people are. If we got rid of everything people obsess over (shopping, sports, etc. etc.) to protect people with OCD, there'd be nothing.

I never make it a point to go out and complete all the achievements for games (However, I've dedicated myself to getting the full score in Mass Effect just because it is that good). To me, achievements are replay value, no more, no less

I think achievements are there for people who enjoy going after them, like me. I you dont'n think they're cool or useful, you should just ignore them. They represente a personal challenge which any one decides to participate in.

Not bad, but they could be refined a little bit I think. Its good that they give games extra replay value, but your overall gamerscore doesn't mean much as there is no consistancy in the amout of points different games give out.

Achievements are a really good thing, cuz they are fun to get and they add a lot replay value to a game. Anyway, if you get obsessed to them, then they can be really frustrating. Dude don't take it so seriously! Get the achievements that you find fun and are not too hard! :)

I think they're good, as they keep people playing games longer than they would otherwise. For older games that have multiplayer, sometimes the ONLY thing keeping people playing are the achievements. I like to complete each game I play, but if it is annoying me too much I'll happily leave it and move onto the next game which I will enjoy playing. There's a sense of satisfaction when the achievement pops-up, but only for achievements that required skill. I don't think anyone thought they were great just by pressing start in the Simpsons, or by getting 1000 in Avatar in 2 minutes.

I think they're good, i mean it helps you come back to a game more, and it also gives you bragging rights if you've done something very hard and that achievment is right there. But you can't be much of an achievement hore OP since you only mave x/x on 2 games out of 23....

I had a gamer card with 10,000 on it, but I had so many games on my played list that I didn't own anymore with like 20 pts unlocked in achievements, it bugged the hell out of me for some reason so I just started a new gamer tag. It sounds really dumb but it bugged me for some reason. I wish 360 games didn't have achievements, as most of them are retarded and very hard to get. Guitar her0 3 comes to mind, just ******* dumb.

i see nothin wrong with achievements, i find it good for all parties ( MS, devs/pubs, and gamers ), its good for MS cuz it gets ppl online playin games they might not otherwise play, good for devs/pubs cuz it gets ppl buyin/rentin alot of time crappy games that theyd never play otherwise, and its good for gamers as it gives your games some extra replay value to go after the achievements

now after sayin all that, i myself am not one of those ppl that go out and play games just for score, nor do i go thru a game again just to try and get the gamerscore i missed, i only play the games i want to play and i only replay games i have fun with and want to play again, tho there are many other gamers who fit the discreption i posted, and if thats fun for them then good for them, just not for me
