I could careless about them. I normally get hooked on online games which offer little to no achievement points(COD4,Halo 3,and TF2). So i only have like 6.1k and most of my games i've barely touched. But it doesn't bother me whatsoever because i only play the games i wanna play the way i wanna play it.

They're not evil lol but I don't get them, or even bother checking what to do to get them, they're pointless to me...but certainly not evil. All could be told from my terrible gamer score lol

I think that they are great. They increase replay value by encouraging people to perform things in the game that they wouldn't normally. I don't really see how they could be evil, unless you say that they're evil because some people become obsessed with them and only play some games for the achievements (although that doesn't hurt me at all, I still don't see how that could be evil).

I get them, I like them. You say plenty of reasons in your blog about why they are good. They add replay value. What I wish was that you actually got something out of it other than a gamerscore. I wish it actually gave you something that added to the game. I am not an "acheivement whore", but I do sometimes try to get certain acheivements not for the score, but for fun. I never try to get the "collect 1,000 stars" acheivements. That just my opinion though.

I like achievements but some of them are pretty hard to get... Such as the one I am trying on Condemned right now where you need to collect a whole bunch of dead birds...

I havn't come across any quite as evil as the ones in Assassin's Creed where you need to collect all the flags... Thats just wrong.

You know how some games have secondary objectives? That's how I think of acheivements, there these little side things that i try to do. To me they add to the fun. Playing king Kong just to get the points is stupid, but going, "Oh I think I'll try this little challenge" can add to the fun.

Oh, and being able to conpare acheivements is cool, I can see if my buddy beat The Force unleashed on hard, or if anybody else uses sticky grenades like crazy in Halo 3.

Achievements are for stat whores and completists. I personally LOVE achievements the same way that I love a shooter that tracks how many bullets I shoot. Useful? Not really. Freaking fun to follow? You bet your ass!

I dont think they are evil, i personally like them. I dont really ever finish all of them for my games, i get whatever ones are given to me when i play through the games as i normally would, if i want to play through again then i will try to go for the ones that i didnt get the first time.

I find myself sometimes not wanting to get games on other systems because they dont have any achievements, i just think its a fun little extra.
