"Achievements dont make the gamer, the gamer makes the achievements"- zerxiez, aka: me
yeah some achievements are hard but who cares if you have them or not, Several of my friends are in the MLG but they dont have alot of achievements, but they are beast at pretty much any game. to get a feel for how good someone is then play against them dont look at some number next to there name.
"but seriously..." on gears of war ,for 10,000 kills online, you get a gamerpic for it as well,
overkill on halo3 on free for all ranked playlist
there are a couple, like the ones for beating the game on hardest difficulty, getting a certain rank or kill in a game, those take more skill than "popping ten balloons" in some arcade game.mohfrontline
Sometimes they just take more time then skill. I mean eventually someone will get used to the difficulty as if it's normal and the only frustrating thing is 'stupid deaths'
Yes, my 200/200 in Pocketbike racer shows I'm immortal.

lmao...that makes you the baddest gamer in here.
1000/1000 for GHIII is pretty diffucult.
I think in graw one of the achievements is to be ranked #1 overall.
Mile High Club..I've almost done. Just throw myself at that brick wall a few more times...it HAS to move. I've gotten to the hostage situation twice..however..one time I had a shotgun (lulz, blew the Hostage's head off) and the second time I had a P90, and missed.thrones
OUCH! That's the worst. Makes you wish you had a real P90 to shoot your TV with.

Seriously doesn't show skill. It shows how long you've played the game for.
Beat a game on a certain difficulty would require skill, especially when there's no co-op (CoD2, CoD3, CoD4)

I agree. You definitely build up a tolerance to the difficulty. I got 1000/1000 on COD4 and am a completely casual gamer. And although Mile High took somewhere between 50-100 tries, I still did it without breaking anything.

When you get to the hostage situation the game MAKES you draw out the pistol theres no option.
[QUOTE="Del_The_Prophet"]The Mile High Achievement in COD4. That one seperates the men from the boys. I, obviously, am still a boy...smcg69
I guess that makes me a man then :)
looks like theres two manly men here then:)[QUOTE="thrones"]Mile High Club..I've almost done. Just throw myself at that brick wall a few more times...it HAS to move. Mile High Club. Also actually playing against good players (and winning) instead of against a bunch of NOOBSKolaz005
Mile High Club takes real skill(ive got it, hehe:))..Also achievements in games like guitar hero 2/3 like beat jordan or TTFAF on expert take skill too..I hate online multiplayer achievements that people boost for though, like the overkill one in halo..sheesh.
i believe that if someone has a high gamerscore their more experienced (usally) not in a specific game but games in general (they get the main idea of any game pretty quick)
that doesnt mean you NEED a high gamer score to experienced but if your GS is in the 20,000 or higher column then i expect you to know what the hell your doing if ur on my team (just like if ur playing with a 5th prestige in COD4, youd expect him to not suck, EXPECT being the key word)
Getting seriously... doesn't necessarily mean you're good, it just means you've played Gears a lot. I think some examples of achievements that actually require skill to get are Mile High Club on COD4, COD2 and 4 veteran achievements, beating TTFAF on expert in GH3, a lot of the DOA4 achievements, etc.

if you get 10,000 kils in gears of war and arent skilled you should just stop playing the game. after that many hours of gameplay you should be a god.
No offense to anyone here, but isn't everyone missing the point of the achievements? Besides a very few, they've always seemed to be there just as competition between friends and reasons to play games in a different way. I don't think they were ever intended to be about skill. I just like them because the psychology of seeing the little anouncement on the bottom of the screen; it's kind of satisfying.
I REALLY love lording my score over my friends.
