We all know that there are many people who simply get as many gamerscore points as possible by renting and beating easy games just to get the achievements. What I want to know is which achievements do people cosider to be difficult to obtain and actually showcase the gamers skill regardless of their total gamerscore

"Achievements dont make the gamer, the gamer makes the achievements"- zerxiez, aka: me

yeah some achievements are hard but who cares if you have them or not, Several of my friends are in the MLG but they dont have alot of achievements, but they are beast at pretty much any game. to get a feel for how good someone is then play against them dont look at some number next to there name.

there are a couple, like the ones for beating the game on hardest difficulty, getting a certain rank or kill in a game, those take more skill than "popping ten balloons" in some arcade game.

Sometimes they just take more time then skill. I mean eventually someone will get used to the difficulty as if it's normal and the only frustrating thing is 'stupid deaths'

Theres no real achievement that shows off skill. Ones like "Seriously" only require time, not skill. Beating a game on its hardest difficulty, like any CoD game, shows some skill, but then theres games like Halo or Gears which on the hardest difficulty counts even if youre playing a co-op game so that doesnt show anything except that you could have used help. Personally, i like competeing with friends over specific games or game achievements, otherwise, they dont do, or show, anything.

1000/1000 for GHIII is pretty diffucult.

I think in graw one of the achievements is to be ranked #1 overall.

Mile High Club..I've almost done. Just throw myself at that brick wall a few more times...it HAS to move. I've gotten to the hostage situation twice..however..one time I had a shotgun (lulz, blew the Hostage's head off) and the second time I had a P90, and missed.

I thinkt the Little rocket man achievement shows show a great deal of dedication. Traveling hours of the game bringing the tiny garden gnome along is harder than it sounds.

Seriously doesn't show skill. It shows how long you've played the game for.

Beat a game on a certain difficulty would require skill, especially when there's no co-op (CoD2, CoD3, CoD4)

I agree. You definitely build up a tolerance to the difficulty. I got 1000/1000 on COD4 and am a completely casual gamer. And although Mile High took somewhere between 50-100 tries, I still did it without breaking anything.

Achievements became pointless the day you were able to cheat for them. Look at all the people with 200,000+ gamerscore. Achievements are boring to even go for now because every achievement can be gamesaved, or profile glitched. Ihave 77000+ gamerscore and now it has no meaning at all because people can cheat for any achievement.

Mile High Club takes real skill(ive got it, hehe:))..Also achievements in games like guitar hero 2/3 like beat jordan or TTFAF on expert take skill too..I hate online multiplayer achievements that people boost for though, like the overkill one in halo..sheesh.

i believe that if someone has a high gamerscore their more experienced (usally) not in a specific game but games in general (they get the main idea of any game pretty quick)

that doesnt mean you NEED a high gamer score to experienced but if your GS is in the 20,000 or higher column then i expect you to know what the hell your doing if ur on my team (just like if ur playing with a 5th prestige in COD4, youd expect him to not suck, EXPECT being the key word)

Getting seriously... doesn't necessarily mean you're good, it just means you've played Gears a lot. I think some examples of achievements that actually require skill to get are Mile High Club on COD4, COD2 and 4 veteran achievements, beating TTFAF on expert in GH3, a lot of the DOA4 achievements, etc.

if you get 10,000 kils in gears of war and arent skilled you should just stop playing the game. after that many hours of gameplay you should be a god.

No offense to anyone here, but isn't everyone missing the point of the achievements? Besides a very few, they've always seemed to be there just as competition between friends and reasons to play games in a different way. I don't think they were ever intended to be about skill. I just like them because the psychology of seeing the little anouncement on the bottom of the screen; it's kind of satisfying.

I REALLY love lording my score over my friends.
