Wow.Assassin's Creed has 5 more days until it is released and I am already sick of it, even more so than I was of HALO 3. In the last 48 hours, I have seen two of my favorite programs, South Park and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, both have their entire episode sponsored by the game. Each commercial break is a 5 minute A.C. commercial. Plus, there are commercials for it everywhere. I've had it.Is it too much? Or is this much advertising necessaryin today's endless world of pop-up ads and product placement?

Yet instead of ignoring it you write YET another (and totally pointless) post on the very argument you despise

You think there has been more pre-release hype than H3? No way. What do you expect though? They're not going to advertise it at all? It's called marketing. Even the Halo hype died down after a week or so. Just about everyone's playing it, but you don't see those museum commercials on TV anymore.

No way has it had as much coverage as Halo 3. And even then, personally I'm pretty happy to see a game advertised on TV - ANY game. It's still kind of a novelty to me.

Besides the only reason that those shows are on TV is because of advertisers and I would prefer to see an ad about something that i have interest in as opposed to floor cleaner or a promo for another show on that channel.

Constant advertising can get annoying. At least it's for a great game and not a tampon or prescription Herpes medication. Those are the worst. I think you're on to something when you say it may be necessary given today's media obsessed culture. Not to mention this is going to be a very stiff Holiday season for games. 360 titles will be battling other 360 titles for sales more so than other platform's titles. There's just not that many PS3's out there and the Wii won't meet demand. It's going to be a civil war on the 360 for sales between 3rd party developers.

I like when theres alot of hype cuz 9/10 times its because the game is really not as good as you think its gonna be. Like halo 3 not really much more than halo 2. Like madden 08 all this new stuff and features .....wrong still not even up with the ps2 version and had more bugs than open garbage in 100 degree weather. The hype is to get you to buy it the first day before the reviews go up online and you relize you've been suckered again. You will soon notice the best games have a little marketing but the game speaks for it self in the gameplay and reviews. I was gonna buy Assassins Creed but I think im going to wait for it used after all the hype and look online for real reviews from what i've read its not all its cracked up to be....

I don't watch much TV that caters to the gaming demographic, so thankfully I haven't been bombarded.

Get a DVR box and then you won't have to worry about it. I agree with the post above, I'd rather see game commercials than another freakin cialis commercial or some cholestrol lowering drug commercial. The AC ad I really like I don't think was ever on TV and that was the one with the song 'Lonely Souls' playing in the background.

The only ads I've seen for it are here on GS. It's pretty easy to ignore if you don't want the game. I've had to go out of my way to download the video trailers for it, so I really don't think it is too much advertisement. I actually saw more advertisement for Halo: Combat Evolved when it was released than I've seen for AC.

Assassins Creed could very well be GOTY. I think it deserves the hype (unlike Halo 3).

And instead of you ignoring this thread, you post an utterly ignorant comment like that. If you don't have anything to add to the discussion, don't add anything at all.

I don't despise commercials or Assassin's Creed. I just think that it is being pushed more in Ads than any other game I have seen. And yes, more so than HALO. I never saw HALO sponsor a show, running HALO commercials for every commerical break. It was the first time I have evr seen a game take up that much ad time during one show, let alone the fact that they did it for two different prime time shows. But I give it up to A.C. They know their demographic and they know what shows we are watching.

And, yes, I guess I would rather see Assassin's Creed commercials than another Enzyte commercial with Happy Bob and his magical boner...
