Sure it is. But i could never see them giving away an entire single player campaign. So it'll be an even bigger rip off than it already is cause you'll have to pay twice just to get your complete game.
People just have to accept the game for what it is, and its a multiplayer game made for Live simple as that. Although maybe giving Chapters of a story or something would be cool , kinda like the Episodes in Half Life.
If they DID make some sort of episodic content, all you'd hear is people whining about how MS and Fasa ripped them off by not including it in the first place. Some people are never happy...
The way the game is played, it would not work with a story mode. I told my friend while we were playing the demo that is was multiplayer only or single player with bots. And he replied "What?! Oh wait, ya this game wouldn't work with a story mode."
He understood it quickly, not why can't you guys? The game is fantastic for what it alreayd is. I don't have the full game, but the demo is jaw dropping awesome, I've already put almost as much time into the demo as I have the Halo3 Beta altogether.
Wasn't the whole point of Shadowrun to provide an Unreal Tournament-esque game for two platforms to play with eachother? Some games are just not meant for single player.
as most people believe this game is very similar to counter-strike- think of having a single player counterstrike. it wouldn't be very good, and even if it was they would have to make tweaks and it will be very different from it's multiplayer.
however, one major difference between cs and sr is the price, which is why most people are complaining. i can understand why there is no single player, but i'm looking forward to some downloadable content, particularly an offline two player even against bots.
