I just read an article about the "epidemic" concerning addiction to video games and people losing jobs, wifes, etc. First off, if people are addicted to video games, isay great !!---It could be worse, they could be addicted to crack or booze. .

I wonder if I'm one of the addicted.

I playaround25 hours a week -- Is This Normal?

I'm addicted... I probably log 35+ hours a week... HOWEVER, I am working 30-35 hours a week, too, and getting back into golf... I guess time is plentiful when you're single :)

3 to 4 hours a day? that's fine. I play a lot, sometimes 5 or more hours a day. I'm not addicted though, it's very fun and enjoy it, but my 360 is broken and I'm not curled up in the corner clawing my eyes out or anything. Why are video games looked at like a waste of time? When someone shows off their score or whatever, it's always "get a life" but if someone were to show off juggling or some other "hobby" people would say "wow amazing!"

Yeah im adicited, however i try to cut my playtime short since i want my 360 to live long, and im not sure if playing 5 hours a day straight would be healthy for such a flimsy console.

How many hours do others play conteniously?

I honestly don't play nearly as much as I used to. I used to play like 3-5 hrs a day. Usually before and after work. Now I'm lucky if I play like 2-3 hrs a day. Of course I do the usual exercise thing, work thing, and have an ok social life.... not great but it's getting better. But honestly no I'm not addicted per se. Heck I can go weeks without playing...

Yep. I guess the people who lost their jobs playing WoW(among other things) never thought about how they would play if they didn't have any money and who would they hang out with and talk to after their friends and family left em.

Not at all actually. I was not real impressed with Gears of war or Call of Duty 2. But I do love nhl 2k7. Im just hoping that ncaa football, Madden 08, All-Pro 2k8 (forgetting the name at the moment), Mass effect, and Call of Duty 4 change my mind.

i play about 2-3 hours a day at the most. i work full time and i have a girlfriend so i only play when I am not with her or at work. I would say im a pretty "casual" gamer who isnt addicted but yet I love video games.

If simply "time played" was an indication, then I may be considered an addict (30-40 hours a week). I have a good job, a new house (built by us 7 years ago), 3 kids, and a great life. I wouldn't give up any of those things for gaming, but my family knows I have been a hardcore gamer all my life and they accept my hobby. It keeps me in the house (so the woman doesn't complain)... it keeps me "cool" with my kids and their friends (at least for now)... it keeps me from dumping money into more expensive hobbies (like some of my past ones, $5000 gas powered R/C aircraft) Since I wouldn't risk my "lifestyle" for games, I don't consider myself an addict... but who knows? Mabye that's what addicts say?

I don't consider myself addicted at all I go to work come home to the wifey and play 360. All in all I log in about 3-4 hours a day. I've known friends to quit their jobs due to being addicted but it's something I would never do.

You sound like you got it together. But isn't the fact that we are all trolling these message boards showing that we are addicted

Okay....I am addicted to the 360. I think it has a lot to do with the achievements points though. Achievements are haunting me in my sleep....I need to get more.
