Hey you guys. So i don't know if any of you have noticed but there are adds in certain 360 game titles

recently some of you have noticed adds for Obama in racing games such as Burnout and so on.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,437763,00.html

Is this a big deal for gamers? Do you want to see adds like this or is it really not a big deal?

S.I.K radio debates this issue and the audio for it can be heard here

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhOdrM8iM5U

what do you guys think about all of this?

Honestly I understand the complaints. But in a game like Burnout, it almost adds to the realism. They have fake billboards in the game anyway, why not just make them real and make some Ad money?

I remember seeing an Ad in burnout a while ago for the movie Righteous Kill, I just laughed. I wasn't greatly offended by it or anything. Now if the Ad tactics start to get lame, like a banner in the desert during a CoD game, then it will be a concern. As for now, I'm ok with it.

I wish there were no ads in games, but I can usually tolerate some product placements like Pepsi and...um...Viagra. Otherwise, it has no place in a game, unless they disclose that it will be in the game on the packaging.

Actually all product placements should be mentioned on the packaging, come to think of it.

If they're put in in natural ways like the burnout one then why not? It ads realism and gives the developers more money to spend on it.

But I would draw the line at "This week's double XP weekend is bought to you buy SNICKERS. FEAST!"

Whenever I buy a game, I buy it for a game, not to see real life repeated a second time.

I agree completely. You see billboards when driving them in real life. To make a game realistic, why not include some realistic billboards?

So, I pretty much don't mind ads as long as it's not overly annoying or just placed in there for no reason.

I don't care, as long as they use some of the cash to improve the gameplay.

I honestly don't mind them but I can see why some people wouldn't like advertisements in their games.

Very funny, and I'm sure we aren't that far off.

Good point. If XBL would just advertise, then we wouldn't have to pay. I'll be damned if they are going to push ads on us with a service we pay for though. It's ok in the case of Burnout because it really does work in context with that game. It's realistic.

One small shame though, I love the quirky names some developers come up with. Like the shops/stores/banners in games like GTA and Saints Row always have some off the wall funny name to them. No use coming up with funny spoof names, when you can just advertise the real store and make money in the process :(

Exactly. Realistic ads are fine (not the banner in the desert as previously mentioned) but something should be done to cut back on costs!

Advertisers are paying, we shouldn't be.
