I have had my xbox 360 for about a year. I was pretty oblivious to the Nyko Intercooler problem many people were having. For almost a year I have had my Xbox 360 in an open area w/ the nyko Intercooler being used. I have never had a problem with my Xbox 360 becoming hot with the Nyko Cooler.

I have read a bunch of gaming articles talkign about how the Cooler steals some power from the 360 and and scorch the system. I took the Cooler off after reading that, however I notice now my 360 does seem to be hotter now.

Any advice on how to prevent overheating? Anyone still used the Nyko Cooler? I appreciate any feedback. Thanks

I have never been so delicate with a gaming console, I really dread the Red Ring of Death, and I am trying to avoid getting it and preventing my system from overheatings

Also, does anyone think i may have damaged my 360 from using the Nyko Cooler for so long, I never noticed any problems when I was using the Cooler.

you can play for a couple hours and it'll be fine. just keep the 360 in a well-ventilated area and just remember to turn it off when you're not playing. the 360 is bound to get warm. for the most part, i expect it to be fine

Don't play for too long, and don't keep it in an enclosed area.

just put it in a an open place with alot of ventelation, not a nook in a tv stand or whatnot. I personally don't use a cooler, but i have heard that it does more damage than save it.

About the inter cooler... if your 360 doesn´t shows any signs of malfunction or overheating than that must mean that your 360 is fine.

And about those tips...it´s almost what everybody has been saying: give it some space to breathe; don´t bloc the little holes; don´t play it for too much time; don´t play it while it is in a confined space and I suggest NOT placing on a carpet because it will only make your 360 hotter

Installing games to the hard drive (if you have the space) will also help it run cooler and quieter.

I don't know if it's helping but I got a cheap $8 little mini-fan and it sits about 6 inches being my 360 blowing at an upward angle. It seems to keep it cooler and it plugs into the wall.

Wrap it in a towell. :P But seriously, don't. Keep it in an open space, I suggest leaving it Horizontally, that way all the fans are open. If you have it vertical then the bottom fans are blocked. Don't play it for too long. Just play it for a couple hours, turn it off for like half and hour, watch a show and than go back to it, if you want.

Contrary to what someone else here uninformed said, it's ok to leave your system running inbetween gaming sessions, as long as you leave it on the dashboard. The system goes into power save mode and is barely noticable running. This is good if you actually play 2 or 3 times a day cause believe it or not, turning your system off and on all the time is much worse for it, all that Heating up and cooling right down takes a bigger toll. Make sure it can breath and depending on the size of the room, an air filter is a good thing to have to take dust/dander out of the air and less for you to 360 suck up. I used to keep my system on the window sill and the cold air from outside kept her running nice and cool, was sometimes concerned that it was to cold. A small fan is ok to have blowing at your system just nothing that steals power from your system or attaches to it. Not only do those 3rd party coolers not work but they void your 360 warranty if you use them. Think about it, if microsoft could have come up with cooler that actually keeps your system temp down, wouldnt they have come out with one?

Yea, but if they did this they would be admitting how much of a defective console it is.. I love my 360, but it is a pos when it comes to the manufacturing.. If it was a quality system this thread wouldn't even exist.. I have 9 consoles at my house and this is the first and only one I have to make sure it doesn't have to overheat.. It's str8 garbage if u ask me considering my nes, snes, and genisis still work perfectly fine.. RROD shouldn't even exist... I got it once and was very upset..

I play for just 2-3 hours, give it a break for an hour. I do it while the electric fan is focused on my 360.

Yes the fan mod is called the 'Nyko Intercooler EX', that is the better version of the 'Nyko Intercooler', Both those fans use the power source of your own 360 so use at your own risk, I have heard and been advised that they cause damage to your 360. I have recieved a mail mesg from a member of this forum directing me to another product in the 'Nyko Intercooler' range.

This is the 'Nyko Intercooler TS' - This is yet another fan mod with the exception that is runs off its very own power source, so there are no need to run the other fan mods via your power input which may lead to RRoD dispite that the fans cool your 360 down it drains power which is otherwise used by your 360. By having your console operating under the set power requirements may cause damage. This is yet to be proven but I will not take any chances myself.
