don't worry the two biggest problem have free replacement and the others are rare so you don't need to think about them
RROD and other problems have a 3 year warrenty...and after that you pay like 80 bucks to get it repaired...my first one was fine for 3 and a half years, then rrod'ed...I payed 80 euros and MS sent me a new one.
well i have both systems ( 360 / ps3 ) cant really go wrong with either...just stay as far as you can from the wii...the wii is a joke.
I've had the RROD, and as much as it irratates you, within a couple of days (if you're in the three year warrenty) you get it back, free, and as good as new!
The Gamerscore system is simply 1000x better than PS3's shoddy-wanabe trophy points, we have a larger (MUCH larger) selection of great games, better designed controllers... The list goes on, for, what is it, £40 a year? (not sure what that is in euros/dollars) for XBL - butyou get better value for your money, and those red ring worriescan just float away... float away....
When I first got my 360 (Feb 09) I was so paranoid about RROD. I would constant feel it to see how warm it was, monitor the clock.
Frankly now, I just don't care. If it happens, it happens. There's no reason to ruin my gaming experience over a fear that system is going to crap out on me. Hell my PHAT PS2 had DRE...I was pissed off but I went out and got a PS2 Slim. The great thing with the 360 is that you get THREE YEARS of FREE protection for the 360's BIGGEST problems.
The 360 is an amazing machine (even if you do own a PS3/Wii), it should not be missed.
I got a new 360 4 or 5 months ago and so far the only problem ive ran into is the controller randomly shutting off during online play but that was easly fixed with buying a rechargeable battery with a usb charger....well that and the fact that theres very few 360 games coming out this year
I was timid about buying one also, but I researched that MicroSoft put a new chip in it, and it doesnt let it overheat. So dont worry :)
buy a 360. thats obviously what you want to here. everyone here has one so your obviously going to be told to buy one
i have posted this so many times already but im on 5th console in 3 years but i still play my 360 more than my ps3 unless its broken again that is
Wrong place to really ask, but it really depends on the sort of games you may enjoy, which friends have which consoles, and if money will be a big problem. Personally, I'd take the 360 since I'm a big fan of WRPG's and my best friend had one.
Edit: O by the way if you're worried about buying a 360 for it's faulty hardware, you do have a good reason to be afraid but with the option of installing games (recommend pro or elite console) there isn't much to worry about.
The 360's problems are so minor and scarce now that you need not worry about a thing. Plus you get FREE 3 year warranty coverage on all of it's most prominent issues. So don't sweat it.
