Would people support the Idea of having the matchmaking ability to chose the age range of gamers to play with?XBox has the whole Underground,Family,Recreation and Pro(I may have some of these wrong) settings.I am set on Recreation however it never feels that way when I hop in a game and get told that I suck and that that somehow makes me gay.So I do not think that system is really working.

The idea is that it would allow a person to choose what age group he would like to play in.For myself being 31.I would choose 25 and up.It will just be an added option. You do not need to choose an age group.

Just a thought

I don't think Microsoft would do something like that as it is bad policy. By doing that it allows players to restrict people based on their age which is something our society frowns upon. I think that if they did do this it would heavily impact the younger generations who would be victims of prejudice and iscrimated against for being young.

I see what you are say'n.It could be taken that way. However it is not at all want I meant.I simply would like to play with people my own age. Also the younger people can choose to play with people there own age.If that is what the player chooses to do.I have a nephew that I play with.So I'm not looking to isolate myself from him.

I just wish they would come down harder on the M rating. That way I don't have to deal with little kids that shouldn't be playing the game anyway.

I don't think there is really any way to implement that. It's like whenever your on a website to watch a trailer for an M game or R movie and it says please input your age, or please confirm that you are 18 or older. I don't know of any people younger than the required age that go, oh no, guess I can't watch it now.7CloudStrife7

Im 19 and I dont even put ,y actual birthday, I just random click the first day month and year that I see that will allow m through the portal lol.

I just don't see it being something that Microsoft would be interested in doing. I think there are lots of opporunities to paly with people your own age or with common interests that you can find on the xbox.com forums, the gamespot forums and unions or even just talking to people over LIVE and making new friends.

I think that Microsoft is really trying to make a broad and colourful community and I don't think they would take any steps in the near future to restrict that.

The problem is that you are going to run across people that treat you like crap no matter what age group you play with. I would suggest just ignore them. I am not a great player, but I am an ok player and I get called every thing man. You are going to be told you suck no matter who you play with and no matter how good you are. I can guarantee that you are not the worst player in the world.

Won't work because:

  • There is no way to verify age
  • People lie (Lieing on the internet? Hard to believe, I know.)

People would still be able to bypass it by lying.

sure there is...it's called checking ID's before a game is bought....ever heard of beer/cigarette sales? Even though if you're underage you could still get access to it, I think that would clean up a lot of the M rated games.

A kid can get an M rated game if there parent is there with them. Or like has been done for years there parent goes to the store and gets it for them. Not that hard.

That's why I edited my post...b/c sure you can get access. But it would be harder if there has to be an ID shown. Because most parents if they're asked for an ID will then question why are they asking for my ID?

Ya because there are not any underage kids that drink and smoke. You do know that most people that smoke started when they were under 18 right.

I wasn't born yesterday. I'm just saying it would be tougher to access.

I think that you could cut down on the kids playing M rated games if parents just used the parental control on the 360. You can make it so you cannot play anything without a code if you wanted. Just make it so they can play everything but M rated games and then only let them play the ones you think are ok. That way even if they have a friend get them the game they still have to get permission from there parents to play it.

Good point, but most parents don't even know that is an option.

APOLLOCJD

Frowns upon, eh?

Age to drive (not counting farm license, etc) = 16

Age to see R rated movie without parental guidance = 17

Age to vote = 18

Age to drink = 21

Age to rent a car / hotel room = 25

Age to be President = 35

Age up to which you can work in the Federal Bureau of Prisons = 55 (or so)

Age to be named on the Smucker's B-Day list on the Today Show = 100

Society puts age restrictions on a plethora of activities. Some of them are enforced more than others, but restriction based on age is commonplace.
