Aliens vs predator gamespot review

i disagree with this review very highly, everythnig in the demo was awesome, it may of been online but everythnig that was adressed was not an issue in the multyplayer. I also didnt like how they only compared the game to thnigs that are out today its sposed to be a review on how the game is itself not a comparison.

Thoughts from anyone else?

i havn't looked at the demo, full game, review yet because i really dont care for the game but i have to say this. Dont disagree with any whats so ever review idc how bad or good it is untill you play the full game.

Sorry the game is sub par, there are the minority that will enjoy it but I agree whole heartedly with the reviews.

Im actually glad about these posts, its good to hear other oppinions im a BIG alien and predator fan so it may just be one of those games you love for the content.

based on the demo the game was nothing special and apparently based on the full game it is nothing special as well

Thats just how all FPS reviews are nowadays. Everyone is going to compare it to CoD and Halo. Watching the video review I can't really tell if he knew what he was doing while playing the Alien and Predator. He was just blindly running at people without using stealth. Maybe the game is that bad... I don't have the full game yet so we will see.

Its like all the WKC reviews... there not very good but everyone I talked to seems to love that game.

doesn't matter to me, I'm still buying it, and I know I'll enjoy the hell out of it.

p.s. at least Kevin gave reasons for not liking it, unlike GI that just ******* up a storm.

Even though I always say that people should try the demo before they buy, i still think that the demo is still not a complete representation of the full game. Plus, comparisons in reviews are pretty much necessary. It'd be a punishment for gamers to not compare the game to others, especially when the FPS market is bigger than the rash underneath Paris Hilton's undergarments.

On the game itself, I'm not surprised. Look at some of Rebellion's last few games. We were treated with such cIassics like Rogue Warrior, PDC World Championship Darts, Shellshock 2: Blood Trails, and even an AVP game that didn't even score well. My expectations were mind-blowingly low. It's a shame that at one point, they DID make a good AVP game...

I thought the demo was very good and also the videos shown and reviews make it look even better. I think its ridiculous how it's compared to all the other shooters? I don't see in any other shooter that has features where you can tear apart your opponent? I dont see how it can be compared to other shooters just because its first person? 2/3 of the game you can't even use a damn gun lol. Or even features some of the most well known races in horror/sci fi history. Don't agree with the review at all, but im yet to play. Looking forward to it though :D

Despite the whinier players coming to it from normal shooting games, it is awesome. The problem is that its gameplay is too different from the norm for anyone playing another shooter to like.

The review was pretty bad though, I think it is far too harsh.

Poor controls? They are a little akward, but I wouldn't call them bad. I very quickly grew used to them and was effectively impaling/cutting/shooting things.

I'll give them the poor level design bit, the multiplayer maps look like something m younger brother would try in Halo 3's forge and I saw nothing impressive in the single player.

The last flaw they manage to list is also true, this game loves to kill you, somethings for crappy reasons. In the multiplaer, the Predator is WAY too well equipped to expect to be killed. Anyone plaing pred with an IQ just over 25 is able to dominate outright. Aliens have a good bunch of fatal bugs that makes playing them difficult, like how it is possible to Knock an Alien down with a Human melee, then hit them again to knock them down again only halfway through the animation, essentially stopping all forms of defense from the alien player, of how aliens wont move properly from one wall to another if the walls are at a perfect 90 degree angle, god knows why that would be a problem, but I see it alot and it has killed me about twelve times total now. Nothing like trying to escape to safety and then randomly stop dead in my tracks.

Is it a 9? No.

An 8? If you are an optomist maybe.

I would say anything above or below 7 is a little off. A 5 though? No thanks, that is the reviewer not wanting to learn the control scheme or treat it as a stealthy game. That is the review of a guy who only ever rushed as the Alien and hadn't realized predators turn invisible.

I thought the demo was a disgrace, the graphics were no better than a poor PS2 game. I guess I shouldnt have expected much from Rebellion making an AVP game. Extinction was & always will be the best... queen_vee

Tbh I don't think I will be buying this. Especially at full price. I am a BIG Aliens and Predator fan and have been for years. I wasn't really impressed by the demo. Graphics/Animation were poor (it looked like ice skating predators rather than running) and the controls didn't feel right either. I'm not comparing this game to anything else and I was willing to let the fact it was a demo and not the finished product not put me off. But watching the review just put a final nail in the coffin for me. :(

Perhaps Colonial Marines will come good if it ever gets finished. I hope so I really do.

Disappointed? Too right I am.

All I have t say is, The demo was fun, not very special. It's a good game though.
