I for one am just waiting for reviews. It has been accused of being a Mass Effect clone because of the conversation system and the gunplay, but I will definatly give this game a shot if the reviews are good. I am always looking for a new RPG.
I'm gonna wait for reviews first before I buy. I'd hate to buy this game blindly and turns out to be a let down. There are so many great games being released in the next couple of months, I can't afford them all. :x
I'll get it right away but so far no one is really talking about it. not even previewers and that has people scared.smerlusI think it's because Obsidian is making it and people see them as sloppy seconds. A lot of people are probably still mad at them for "ruining" KOTOR2 and don't trust them. I'm still interested in it but that can attribute to people's fear. That and they probably don't have the marketing budget that games like MW2 or AC2 have.

I assume you put that word in quotes because you disagree with that point of view, which frankly I have never heard before. I thought KOTOR 2 was actually better than the first one IMO. Are there people who thought they ruined it?

Yeah I think a lot of people were upset when Bioware didn't do the second one and it was given to Obsidian. It saw a slight review score drop off and I know I've heard talk on forums and things that people weren't as happy with the second as the first. I do disagree, I liked them both a whole lot which is why I trust Obsidian with Alpha Protocol, it just may have to wait with all of the other stuff coming out. I'll still be playing ODST, Ultimate Alliance 2 and gearing up for Brutal Legends and Borderlands when it comes out and will need to stockpile some dollar bills.I for one am seriously hyped for this. Obsidian is sorta my favorite RPG developer, if you count them as Black Isle as well as Obsidian. I've seen all the videos at least three times and the gameplay looks fantastic. I have mine pre-ordered, although I might cancel that pre-order for Forza 3 or DiRT 2. I need a racing game besides Forza 2.
Exactly the same for me.I'm gonna wait for reviews first before I buy. I'd hate to buy this game blindly and turns out to be a let down. There are so many great games being released in the next couple of months, I can't afford them all. :x

Alpha Protocol has a great concept...but I'm not so sure if it will pull through yet.
The thing is, there's too many great release coming out soon which overshadow most game. Alpha protocol being one of them. I sure want it though.
Defintely interested, but Obsidian has gotten run through the mud a little bit, as many people have complained about glitches in KOTOR2 and Neverwinter Nights 2. IGN recently had a preview of Alpha Protocol, but even they noted many bugs, and again mentioned Obsidian's History. Warts and all, I still enjoyed those games, so as long as AP doesn't get uniformly bad reviews, I'll probably give it it's day in court, especially since, in contrast to the prevailing opinion around here, I think this Holiday season will be a letdown compared to the past several.

I don't believe they ruined KOTOR 2, they improved on the original in a lot of ways especially the way you influenced the other party members (rather than in KOTOR where Carth would have a go at you for being evil then jump into the fight anyway) and the way they made it easier to use stims... but the ending was horrible, very obvious and there were so many loose ends with the rest of your party it felt incomplete.
Alpha Protocol wise I'll wait for reviews, it's out (in the UK at least) a week before Dragon Age: Origins from Bioware and I'll pick up whichever gets the better reviews, not just the overall score, but I'd like to read more about how each game plays before deciding which to get.
Agreed, this holiday has nothing on last year.Defintely interested, but Obsidian has gotten run through the mud a little bit, as many people have complained about glitches in KOTOR2 and Neverwinter Nights 2. Very sound policy! I pre-ordered both in a shopping spree last month (along with Borderlands and Mass Effect 2), and now I have to eat dry pasta.
