Well snake has a gun, so I'm fairly sure he'd win. I dunno if you're aware of how a war works, but if one side had guns, and the other had swords and knives, the side with the guns would win.

Never bring a knife to a gun fight, that's almost a guaranteed loss. Anyway it depends on the circumstances, if Altair had a chance to utilize his stealth abilities he might have a chance but even then he has never faced Snake's technology and is unaware of its power. I think Snake would probably win although I favor both Assassin's Creed to the Metal Gear games and think Altair is a better character over all. I think this topic would be a bit more relevant on the PS3 forum, after all Snake has never been featured in a 360 game and Assassin's Creed is a third party game.

1v1, if you sneak up behind someone and stab them in the back of the head, you win, even if they have a nuke attached to their arm. However, I don't think it would be that easy to sneak up on Snake. Especially with beggers running around you.
Altair is probably one of the worst main charcacters i've ever played as, so im gonna go with snake, never played the game, but you gotta give a 50 year old dude credit for picking up an assault rifle and mow down hundreds of enemies :)
I voted Snake, I mean its Snake. If they are both aware one is looking for the other then Snake is going to win. I think it would depend on the situation. If Snake is completely unaware of Altair then he is a dead man, and vice versa.
a little girl that can climb and stab people, vs snake.....no contest. snake has defeated freaking invincible bosses and giant mechs, altair has killed a ton of generic worthless soldiers who have no names or families and just exist to get killed off easily.
not unless the side with knives and swords happened to be a super-stealth ninja assassin. but to be serious i think snake would win for two reasons: Altair seems kinda gullible and falls for everything and snake, being a crafty guy, could take advantage of that. Secondly, Altair seems like the kinda boss snake would fight and kill. Like that romanian dude from the second one, or the spider dude from the third.

That's kind lame...it's so obvious who would win. Altair would be doing all these assassin-like-flashy-moves, and then Snake would just send a bullet through his skull ;)
I go with Altair cuz I don't get the big deal about Snake or the games he comes from. A better comparison might be to ask Altair Vs. Ryu Hayabusa, they are 2 different styles of deadly assassin.
