Maybe you were thinking this was going to be some huge slaughtering fest? It's not like any of those repetitive shooters. It's a game with a huge story that keeps your attention if you actually watch and listen to what's happening in the game. It's a great graphics game with some of the best sound direction I've heard, mixed in with some great gameplay. If you can't get into the story of Bioshock I don't really know what's wrong with you but, suit yourself. Some games aren't for some people and if you aren't patient what so ever, Bioshock is not for you. This is a very intelligent RPG/Shooter that you can not play on easy or else it's just a let down IMO (it's seriously a joke on easy) If you buy this game, start on normal and you won't regret it.
There is nothing wrong with you, haha, If you don't like the game, you don't like the game!
Personally, I thought it was a great game. The story was really nice, and I liked the gameplay.
Try it again, and try to just enjoy the story. Don't expect to be shooting people every millisecond.
I've been a gamer all my life and when I first saw the trailer for BioShock, I was quite amazed. I thought it was going to be an amazing game, but I think all the hype it contributed to why I thought this. Then the day I got my hands ahold of it, the cover looked great. Everything looked great. Even the instruction manual looked great. But I played it, and it just seemed really boring and repetitive repetitive. Not to mention the AI seemed to be very unintelligent. It was just a BORING game. That was it. So then I didn't play it for a couple months, then came back to it. I got into it for like 5 minutes, then it was boring to me again. I just flatout dislike this game. I don't get why people loved it so much. I don't get why I disliked it so much. It seems like a game I should be interested in. But I wasn't. Is there something wrong with me?Stoam
No, there is nothing wrong with you. It's call having an opinion. Just because 1 person or 100 people like a game, doesn't mean you have to or will.
I share a similar view of the game as you. I bought it on a whim one day when I had nothing better to do, and initially the game surprised me because I was a little bit unsure about it prior to getting it. My expectations where not overly high from what I had seen, but people were praising it and I had been wrong before (I quite enjoyed Gears, but I thought initially that it was just overhyped garbage, I was wrong), so at first I actually did enjoy a lot of the game's atmosphere. But, after a while I kind of got tired of the game and I realized that the 'almost-cartoony' art direction of the game didn't quite sit right with me. The game has some forgiving elements and I am sure the story is interesting if I can get past a lot of the issues I have with the game, but as it stands now, it will probably be collecting dust along with Crackdown as one of my purchase mistakes. Cant like 'em all.
I loved Bioshock because of the atmosphere and the story. I always felt like I was moving forward with the game, and never once did I feel like "man, maybe I should play another game" during the week I played through Bioshock. That rarely happens with me, so I applaud Bioshock for being a beautiful, perfectly paced game with one of the best atmospheres in a game world I have ever seen.ParkCarsHereTotally agree with you. Bioshock is an awesome game and those people on here that only played the demo shouldnt even have an opinion on this thread!
My brother-in-law was sitting next to me at the dinner table when he said he didnt like bioshock... I almost stabbed him in the hand by reaction.
Haha not really of course, but I really enjoyed the game, but dont expect the rest of the world to :)
yes, you are the only person who didn't like bioshock. I might suggest turning up the difficulty, and paying attention to the story.
No, I'm sure there are plenty of people who agree with you. I share the same sentiment as you with gears of war. However lovedBioshock Great story and gameplay, superb graphics.
Edit my post and Gamespot takes away the paragraphs
I don't hate it but I don't love it either. It was a decent game. The only people I have seen argue that it wasn't that great in an intelligent way are me and two other users here, so you are in the minority.
I thought that the gameplay just wasn't very good, the enemies were boring to fight (and pretty much from System Shock 2), guns were boring, and almost all the powers were boring. The graphics and sound were great. The atmosphere was terrific when the game first started but then I thought it went downhill once the demo (they were banging on the glass with you locked in the room) ended. I just wasn't as interested in the scenery, I didn't see as many interesting things, and the stupid respawning enemies made it hard to just look around when I first got in an area. As the game went on the only thing I looked forward to was encounters with that crazy artist. I thought the story was ok and except for one of the twists I thought that two others were obvious from the beginning and that the other didn't really add much to the story. The hyped battles with the big daddies were just horrible, one of the most boring enemies I have fought in a shooter, all they do is hit you away from them, if you use the right ammo they won't even get to do that. It was far to linear, the entire game was pretty much a fetch quest, I wanted to explore the city of Rapture not be lead around by an arrow trying to find stupid ****. You care nothing for the little sisters and it is obvious you should save them all for the extra rewards given to you and for the 100 point achievement, killing them only makes things hardder and just isn't satisfying (why can't I hit them with a wrench!, I can hit kids with crowbars and swords in Deus Ex).
I know that the game has been outdone by Deus Ex when it comes to characters, story, gameplay, RPG level up element (in place of attaching plasmids or whatever it was), ending, caring about the characters around you. It was probably outdone by System Shock as well but I never played that.
