haha it makes me feel awkward. i like computer games where you just type your message. plus it's not fun having people tell you you suck a lot and talking smack. plus it takes up bandwith. what do you think?ryguybondI'm the same way. I hate talking on it just like I hate talking on the phone. I have the headset that came with mine but hardly ever use it. I was playing Burnout and someone asked me about five times if I had one and I never responded. I really find it kind of pointless. I playgames online to play. Not talk smack.
I'm the same way, I only wear my headset if I'm playing on a team and we have to work together and even then I don't say too much. Otherwise I don't see the point. Talking smack only intimidates people, causes them to play poorly and brings the whole atmosphere down a bit. I also don't say too much because I speak pretty softly hrough my mic most of the time so it never picks up :P
The only game where headsets are necessary is Rainbow six because it's a tactical shooter and the players are dedicated enough to to work together and not trash talk or put people down (unlike gears of war where people rarely strategize)
Edit: Rainbow six isn't the only tactical shooter, it's the only one I have atm.
I'm with you guys. While I don't mind talking, I also don't like to chat up a storm on Xbox Live. Let's just play the game.
Especially late at night, the last thing I want to do is to use my vocal cords. They need a break too, you know? :) (I play mostly late at night because that's when I'm home)

i think you're crazy!...haha...just kidding man....i personally love chatting during games....makes them more interesting
I don't have a headset yet, so I've yet to actually try talking myself but I doubt I'd be particularly fond of. I might speak when spoken too, but thats it. I'm also semi-afraid that by putting on the headset I'll turn into a gigantic prick being that the vast majority of people I'm unfortunate enough to play with are indeed, gigantic pricks.
I can see how it'd help co-ordinate strategy and stuff in certain games and with that, its fine. But when people talk smack about pwning n00bs and being l33t and ownage or you have some redneck who thinks he's a rapper shouting some 50 cent crud in your ears or some racist 12 year old who think he's the king of the universe while he's doing good in a game but then turns into a whining little crybaby when he gets killed a single time, well thats not so good.
Wow a room full of muties.......
If xmen has taught me anything it is that muties and humans do not get along.
I would use it if anyone ever used it for stratagy but no one ever does. They just curse people when they die and tell them they suck when they kill um. No one ever is like ok guys meet here or anything like that. So no I never use it unless I know the people im playing with and want to be tactical.
my mic is covered with dust. the last time i used it was for GRAW but then people kept camping our spawn and killing everybody so i just got pissed and never played it again.
the worst thing ever is playing uno and listening to people talk crap. TALK CRAP ON UNO! yeesh.
oh and some guy refused to play contra with me today because i didn't use my mic.
so yeah....lots of dumbasses out there loving the mic. not me. maybe it'll get plugged in when halo 3 comes out. we'll see.
i dont use them for a few reasons.(unless i have to)
1. I like to listen to music so i cant be listening to Good Riddance and talking through a headset.
2. most of the time im all lit so talking is the last thing i wanna do hell i can barely play the game
3. maybe i should try the wireless... but i hate have that thing on my head and having it plugged into the controller.

response to #2- I find myself talking about the most ridiculous things in this situations, like rambling on about multiple cookie types while playing halo 2.
My connection can't handle voip, a mic. I try to use it but every other word is cut off so I'm told. It lags me down and then I have to explain why the kid can't talk crap. "Oh **** you, it was the lag, dammit! No stfu I'm serious. You can't hear me? FU!"
Lol, call me mute but FU, STFU, it was the lag ****
I hardly ever talk online ever, im british you see, and from past experiences, as soon as i open my mouth the marjority of americans like to trash talk me, "tea drinking, scone eating queen like talking brits, brush your teeth" ive heard it all before, and ive defended myself, but now, i just really cant be bothered with the immaturity, and let my gaming to the talking.
I even send message in text form, mainly because i dint have a mic on halo 2 back on the original xbox, for a while so i just got used to it. now its just a habit.

yeh i feel the same. also i'd feel perculiar if i was seen wearing a headset...playing a game...and talking. why? i don't know, never been to fond of strangers XD
i do listen to people on my team if they talk strategy wise

If I had an avatar of David Hasselhof getting soaked, I would probably not talk either.
