haha it makes me feel awkward. i like computer games where you just type your message.  plus it's not fun having people tell you you suck a lot and talking smack. plus it takes up bandwith.  what do you think?

I'm the same way. I hate talking on it just like I hate talking on the phone. I have the headset that came with mine but hardly ever use it. I was playing Burnout and someone asked me about five times if I had one and I never responded. I really find it kind of pointless. I playgames online to play. Not talk smack.

I'm the same way, I only wear my headset if I'm playing on a team and we have to work together and even then I don't say too much. Otherwise I don't see the point. Talking smack only intimidates people, causes them to play poorly and brings the whole atmosphere down a bit. I also don't say too much because I speak pretty softly hrough my mic most of the time so it never picks up :P

The only game where headsets are necessary is Rainbow six because it's a tactical shooter and the players are dedicated enough to to work together and not trash talk or put people down (unlike gears of war where people rarely strategize)

Edit: Rainbow six isn't the only tactical shooter, it's the only one I have atm.

I only like talking if it involves talking about strategy but in some games almost never unless someone asks me something I respond but talking is the best in sports games like football or basketball because I like to talk s**t while playing sports.

I'm with you guys. While I don't mind talking, I also don't like to chat up a storm on Xbox Live. Let's just play the game.

Especially late at night, the last thing I want to do is to use my vocal cords. They need a break too, you know? :)  (I play mostly late at night because that's when I'm home)

I don't like to chit chat or talk smack, but when I play one of the COD games I like to just to let my team-mates know "what diirection our flag went" or if there is someone sniping from an area, as a warning. I wish more people would do this, if it will help us in the game. Unfortunately people don't do this as much as I would like.

half strategy...half sh*t talk...half whatever the f*ck's on my mind...being shy helps you lose, headset use = winner...at least in the games that require teamwork, which is almost all live games

I don't have a headset yet, so I've yet to actually try talking myself but I doubt I'd be particularly fond of.  I might speak when spoken too, but thats it. I'm also semi-afraid that by putting on the headset I'll turn into a gigantic prick being that the vast majority of people I'm unfortunate enough to play with are indeed, gigantic pricks.

I can see how it'd help co-ordinate strategy and stuff in certain games and with that, its fine. But when people talk smack about pwning n00bs and being l33t and ownage or you have some redneck who thinks he's a rapper shouting some 50 cent crud in your ears or some racist 12 year old who think he's the king of the universe while he's doing good in a game but then turns into a whining little crybaby when he gets killed a single time, well thats not so good.

I don't use mine due to the fact that I can only hear out of one ear, and like to hear the game music/ effects over "LOLZ PWNT U NUB" but people especially on R6 are really a pain in the butt about it.

I don't mind talking. I can see, however, why younger kids don't talk. If some young kid talks even if hes not complaining or anything other people seem to "pick on them."

I would use it if anyone ever used it for stratagy but no one ever does.  They just curse people when they die and tell them they suck when they kill um.  No one ever is like ok guys meet here or anything like that. So no I never use it unless I know the people im playing with and want to be tactical.

I usually leave my headset turned off unless I have something that I have to say... Which usually consists of confirming my presence, strategy or flipping out over crazy nades that are impossible to get away from in Vegas, you should really be able to return them or something if you can't run away from them in time...

my mic is covered with dust. the last time i used it was for GRAW but then people kept camping our spawn and killing everybody so i just got pissed and never played it again.

the worst thing ever is playing uno and listening to people talk crap.  TALK CRAP ON UNO! yeesh.

oh and some guy refused to play contra with me today because i didn't use my mic.

so yeah....lots of dumbasses out there loving the mic.  not me.  maybe it'll get plugged in when halo 3 comes out.  we'll see.

I always talk, even when I have nothing to say.  I'm not big on talking serious isht but I like to be jovial and poke fun here and there.  I find teams work together alot better if I take the initiative to get people talking and getting along.  Team cohesion is a big factor in a lot of games and the better you work together the better your team will do.  Also in games like Halo 2 if you start talking and try to keep the atmosphere light, I tend to find that I experiance less instances of the stereotypical "game ruiner" (all the reasons people mentioned not liking the mic).  If you've ever seen that commercial for Mountain Dew Light with elevator small talk Tony, that's how I like to start games.  It keeps everybody on the same page.

i dont use them for a few reasons.(unless i have to)

1. I like to listen to music so i cant be listening to Good Riddance and talking through a headset.

2. most of the time im all lit so talking is the last thing i wanna do hell i can barely play the game

3. maybe i should try the wireless... but i hate have that thing on my head and having it plugged into the controller.

I hate people who don't use their mic, especially in R6. But I feel the same way. My friends use to use Teamspeak and Ventrillo for Computer games and I'd never want to talk on it...

My connection can't handle voip, a mic. I try to use it but every other word is cut off so I'm told. It lags me down and then I have to explain why the kid can't talk crap. "Oh **** you, it was the lag, dammit! No stfu I'm serious. You can't hear me? FU!"

Lol, call me mute but FU, STFU, it was the lag ****

I usually only use it for private chat with friends in games, other than that it tends to ruin my game, gives headaches, and is just plain annoying to hear someone babbling nonstop. If i wanted to hear that I could just wear my earphones while listening to an incoherent AM radio station.XBL needs many more voice option improvements.

I used to be antisocial but then i started talking and I found that it added a lot more fun to the games I played. It also let me find more friends who I prob wouldn't have gotten the chance to be friends with if I never talked.

I hardly ever talk online ever, im british you see, and from past experiences, as soon as i open my mouth the marjority of americans like to trash talk me, "tea drinking, scone eating queen like talking brits, brush your teeth" ive heard it all before, and ive defended myself, but now, i just really cant be bothered with the immaturity, and let my gaming to the talking.

I even send message in text form, mainly because i dint have a mic on halo 2 back on the original xbox, for a while so i just got used to it. now its just a habit.
